About six months ago, planet poker players had to deal with being disconnected several times a day.
Many players I know left to go play at other sites.
Then, for awhile, the disconnections stopped.
Now, they are back.
It is very frustrating to pay money to enter a tournament, play for an hour, then see it all blown away because you were disconnected right before the blinds at the later stages when the blinds are very expensive. Players see you are disconnected, and raise, stealing your money while you are left wondering whether you will even make it back to the tournament.
I know that it is not my computer, because I am not the only one that this happens to, and I've been in a couple tournaments recently that everyone was disconnected. That one was fun, because the first person back had a couple minutes to take as much as he could from everyone.

Why does this problem only seem to happen at planet poker (of all the big name sites)?

Is anything in the works to fix this problem?

Just curious where this site that has a nice spread of games is going.

Yes, PlanetPoker has experienced some connectivity issues recently. We route all our connections through Curacao in the Dutch Antilles where Planet Poker is licensed. There have been router problems in the area and recent repairs appear to have resolved the issue. The connectivity issues have nothing to do with PlanetPoker's current program or hardware. I do not agree this issue is unique to PlanetPoker, all sites seem to have varying degrees of problems with connectivity from time to time.

That said, PlanetPoker is working with a new software developer and are beta testing new poker software. The new program can currently be downloaded at www.planetpoker2.com

It should be operating for real money play in early 2004. You can go and take a look at it if you like and please feel free to e-mail any comments you might have to betatest@planetpoker.com

I think this new state of the art program will enhance the poker player's playing experience greatly. I trust you will all enjoy it.

Thank you, Roy.

Yes it is true that each site has connectivity issues, but most of mine, in my limited experience have been on Planet. Although, I have probably played there the most, because of Draw and some nice lower to middle limit tournaments.

Anyway,

I was checking out the new software, and it looks pretty bad azz. If I download the new software now, I can use that instead of the old software when I play for real money? I would like to check it out.

Thanks.

Roy's previous post "It should be operating for real money play in early 2004. "

Take a guess....

Thank you not for the extremely rude post. If I remember right, I was asking Roy, but I would have welcomed anyone's comments that weren't from someone so bitter.

I didn't think I'd score THAT high!

Your fault- you didn't turn on the "No Sarcasm" flag on your post.

Your post fell under the heading, If you don't have anything nice or useful to say, blah blah blah....

I guess it is MY fault for posting my problem in a forum where some members feel it best to insult the intelligence of other members of their OWN community.

I guess your goal is to outcast occasional users, so that they would not want to participate in future discussions here.

IN any case, If you took anytime to investigate what the thread was about and visited the planetpoker2 website, you would have seen that it said that you could download now to play real money. My question, which was to Roy, was a clarification that if I downloaded software from there, that it was different from the one I have now.

REMINDER TO EVERYONE...

UPF is a stress-free poker zone. We all love each other and seek conflict resolution in polite and meaningful ways. We are a family.

Sorry if you felt uncomfortable, PokerDude. I'm certain that Easy E didn't mean to have his words taken as a serious assualt, but sometimes sentences look more menacing when posted than they sound when they dance around in the author's head. Easy E is a member of UPF in good standing, and so are you.

Let's move forward.

I was just pointing out that Ray said "ready in 2004" and then you asked "can I download it now for real games"" which Ray had already answered and (as you saw in his other post) answered the same way again.

I didn't think i was THAT harsh, but I apologize if you took it that way too strongly. I WAS tweaking you a bit about the question.... maybe I was tired. -1 point for you not reading carefully, -2 for me for making you feel attacked.

By the way, as a general rule, beta software is NEVER used in a real environment- it's beta, so it's not SAFE to use for real. It's tested first for obvious defects, often set up in a mirror environment that duplicates the eventualy production environment.

Hopefully this makes amends.

PS- don't let what people post get to you- you don't want to tilt THAT easily, do ya? ;)
