I really love this game but I don't play it very often as I can't play multitables as well with it so my overall earn doesn't compete with my hold'em results per hour but for those of you that really want to find some very easy competition (and that is being VERY nice) you should pick up a copy of Ray Zee's book and learn this game. These games are so soft online it is incredible.

I agree... my strategy for stud 8 basically consists of crossing concepts I've learned from Omaha 8 and 7 stud. I'm not very good at either game, but the stud 8 tables are still pretty beatable for me. I've been meaning to learn this stud 8 more, I just haven't had the time, but if you do have the desire to learn it, most of the online low limits(up to 3/6, 5/10 range) are a good place to start.

Agreed. A friend told me he played it at the Bellagio while waiting for a HE table and cleaned up. I tried it last week and did well by betting aggressively when I had something, like Lee Jones teaches.

I came in 3rd in a 9-seat SNG the same day. I'm getting the bookto learn it more. I tried Omaha and didn't like it, but stud is cool.

Hi-

One of the positive (and safe) things about stud 8 vs. Omaha 8, is that you can't get bricked, as it's one of the things that can routinely happen in Omaha 8, thus leaving you sometimes with none of the pot. Omaha 8 requires more 'safety net cards' for your holding so you don't leave yourself in too many losing situations. Another reassuring factor here is that you won't get quartered all that often in stud 8, so your decisions to carry through with the betting and/or raising will make it a more mandatory and warranted bet! It's also easier to put your opponents on the more likely holdings that they might have because four of their cards are exposed, thus making it much clearer for how you should proceed as well (if at all). But both games (Omaha 8 and stud 8) are profitable games when the knowledge and experience follows.

good luck to you - enjoy the game and keep pluggin' away at it.

Hi-

Stud 8 is a great game, and when you play the really strong low cards on third street that also have strong high draw potential to complete to,(like 3 suited low cards containing an Ace, and three low consecutive straight cards)....you'll be drawing to more perfect lows and hands that can complete easier to lower straights, and/or hands in which you start with low suited cards...make your low, and then hit your flush also, and this will give you GREAT scoop possibilities. Another important thing to keep in mind is, there will be times when "taking off a card" on 4th street after you catch a bad card (a brick), will be correct for you to do so, whereas in many situations it will not.

Anyway......Ray Zee's book on the two split games, is definitely worth the read. Good choice in my opinion, and good luck to you.
