| Just thought this was amusing. Watched Karen Sisco last night for the first time. She is a federal marshall and her dad is a retired federal marshall turned private eye. Talking with her dad on the phone about a case, he brought up a poker reference how their friend over plays his hands. Didn't think much of it. But a few scenes later, they are playing poker. She announces they are playing hold'em. "Two hole cards and 5 flopped cards." is how she described it. She dealt. Her dad folded and got up. He and the guy the were talking about on the phone were left in the hand. She dealt the flop, turn, and river correctly. But commented "You have to pay $5 to see my str8 on the turn". And "You'll have to pay $20 to see my full house on the river." He called $5 but folded to $20. Much like the phone conversation predicted. Daughter and father looked at each other smuggly. Now I realize that this is my first time watching this show and I could be missing the true meaning to this scene. BUT, it seemed very out of place. Guess they are trying to use the popularity of Hold'em to boost their show. Or something. Guess the next step will be the popularity of reality shows will have a poker tournament to evict the next person on the show. | ||

| Never saw it, but I suspect they are riding the Hold-em bandwagon. M*A*S*H frequently had good poker scenes, and at least one episode that centered on the game. Of course, they were always playing five card draw. My fav was when Radar called a big bet, was shown a boat (by Trapper, I think) and said, "All I got is two pair: fours." Hawkeye says, "Fours and what?" and Radar says, "Just fours. I got two pair of fours." LOL -Moz "One November spawned a monster in the shape of this child..." | ||

I taped that show on the Travel Channel already! ;-) Seriously, you ever notice the huge amount of poker term references in TV dialogue? I know it's always been there in pop culture, but I think it 's increased lateley - especially on Law and Order and the West Wing. | ||
