| I have two questions :- 1. You mentioned that even in sit out mode dealer will deduct the blinds and also deal the card to the players who are sit out but fold them . Now in normal game when some one sit outs the cards are not given to the sit out person . So please explain do we deal and give the cards to the sitout players also ? 2. now in tournament usualy there are three winners First , Second and Third so on this basis if 5 players are playing the tournament and 4 players sitout what will happen will the last player who is active playing with rest sit out player will win the game and there will be no second and third winner ? please explain as dealer/house point of view as we are playing offline so we need to know the house rules also . Thanks alot | ||

| The way I understand it is this way.... 1) Blinds post. Cards dealt to all. Normal betting round. Sitouts fold, then flop. 2) The play continues until all are blinded out. It is conceveable to make it into the money by just folding. The blinds will start to knock folks out. Place accordingly . Dupree | ||

| The live tournaments I have played in dealt players in even if they were away from the table, and just folded their cards as soon as the action came to them. Also, their big blind was folded even if they had the option to check. This is so that if someone comes back after the deal but before their action, they can still play their hand. If one player stays and 4 sit out, obviously the one who is playing will win all the blinds just by calling before the flop and will come out on top. The players who get second and third will depend on who busts out first. Say the blinds are 50/100 with the button being the player sitting in at seat 1, blinds at 2 and 3, and each player that is sitting out has 150 left in their stack. Seat 3 will be the first to be eliminated because he will post 100 on the big blind this time and his last 50 on the small blind the next hand. Next to go will be seat 4. After that, seat 5 will go out and get third, and then the last one to be blinded out will be seat 2, and he'll get second. It is possible to get in the money while being blinded out. I actually managed to get 18th (top 30 got paid) in a tournament the other night after my isp went down with 70 left. I had a big stack when it went down, but it was nice to see I got a little bit of profit and it wasn't a total loss when I checked the next day. Hope this helps. Lee | ||

A tournament is a freezout structure. You can't win until you have all of the chips, unlike a ring-game that can go on indefinitely with constant new infusions of chips. In a tourney, if a player were allowed to sit-out indefinitely without his blinds being paid, he could wait until there was only one player left before he played, because his stack would be completely insulated from loss. Very unfair to the rest of the field. His chips must remain in play in a tourney. Now, the hand is dealt to him for two reasons: 1- because many, many poker players are superstitious and don't want the deal to change (fewer cards out), and more importantly: 2- If the player returns to the table during the deal, he will still be able to play his hand. > > 2. now in tournament usualy there are three winners First , Second and Third so > on this basis if 5 players are playing the tournament and 4 players sitout what > will happen will the last player who is active playing with rest sit out player > will win the game and there will be no second and third winner ? The last player (the only one sitting in) will eventually win first place, because he is the only one who can win any pots. He will win every pot because all he needs to do is call the BB and all other hands will be folded off. He will continually collect one BB and one SB from two different players each hand, until all of the players who sat out are out of chips. The second place player will be the player who had the largest stack when they all sat out and the third place player will be the player who had the next largest stack. > > please explain as dealer/house point of view as we are playing offline so we > need to know the house rules also . > > Thanks alot Hope that helps. -Moz "One November spawned a monster in the shape of this child..." | ||
