I want to make sure I was thinking right on this hand.

I am head to head in a SnG. Long story short, we get to the river and the board is:

Ah Qd Js 10c Kc

There is 2000 in the pot.

No matter what I have in my hand and the other player has in his hand, we split the pot? There is no possible flush or hand higher then the str8 on the board.

I bet 2000. Much to my surprise, he folded.

Am I missing something? Or did he.

It doesn't work very often, but good bet.
Some folks miss that one.

lol...
I think he missed it.
Good bet BTW.
I sometimes bet at a split pot to see who is paying attention./ I got chewed out for it in a ring game because we only added to the rake.

In a SnG, there is no rake, so sure bet away..

LOL

Had the same thing happen last night, happens when they select "fold to any bet" or "check/fold" without looking at the board.

(I will say that I hit fold once what would have been a split pot, I take more time
now to really make sure what the flop is).

Remember his name and look for him on tables again, especially in the ring games, should be quite profitable :-)

I always make a maximum raise in that situation, and yes, I occasionally get a player to fold.

DR-

Yeah, he missed it. That's one of the reasons I always like to throw a bet out there in situations like that, especially online. Good bet. :)

Hey Dr_ Monkey,

You never know what someone else may overlook - and you gave him the opportunity to fold. Great bet!

There are 3 black cards on the board. Maybe he thought you had a flush.
