Bankroll requirements for No Limit???, noiseboy, 11. Nov 2003 11:31

Hi there everyone,

I initially won several grand playing NL at UB. I was thinking "this is great! I can't believe these games are so good." Anyway, I thought I was adequately funded, but recently, after sustaining a long string of unlikely beats, I'm realizing that I need much more. At UB they limit you to buying in 100 times the BB so that the max for 1/2 is $200 and 2/4 is $400. I'll usually buy-in for whatever the median stack is at the table, usually about half the max. Should I just always buy in for the max? I know that large stacks have a big advantage, but I like to be freerolling with my opponents money after doubling up a couple of times.

I have a much larger tournament/live play bankroll to draw from but I'm not sure how much to deposit to withstand the swings. How much do I need for the $200 buy-in tables? The players are somewhat better at the $400 buy-in tables, does this increase or decrease my bankroll reqs proportionally? I would assume that I should have more than twice what I would need for the $200 tables to make up for the tougher competition, but then again, I am likely to suffer fewer of the bad beats with the best of it at the higher level so the swings might be smaller.

Thanks for any advice.
