Finally beat the loose aggresive game.., C.A. Adkins, 8. Nov 2003 07:48

Earlier in the week I told you folks about a loose aggresive 10/20 game with $2 and $5 blinds. Well I played in this game last night for 6 hours and booked a win of 1 BB/hr. Exactly $120. I have to admit all the advice I got here helped in this game. I have to pass along one hand though I hold JJ in late middle I raise and get 6 count em 6 callers. Flop is 3 5 9 rainbow. I bet and get called by one guy who just happens to be a buddy of mine.. Turn is a 2 of the fourth and final suit so no flushes. I check he checks. My miracle J hits the river I bet he raises and I just call because my buddy will play good cards most times but will regularly go out on a limb and call three bets or a preflop cap because "its such a big pot and he is just felling it." After I call his raise he turns over his 46o and I muck my set of Jacks without showing him. With this pot it would have been a much healthier win for me but oh well. Any comments? Could I have saved a bet? Couldn't have seen this coming could I?

Why did you check the turn? With a board of 3 5 9 2 rainbow..its hard to believe youre not ahead. In this case it probably saved you a bet because he wouldve called anyway (especially since he was feeling it), but I think its a bad habit to get into, checking when you are ahead I mean.
