| Now I know what winning feels like - just placed first in a limit sit-n-go for the first time - battling back from in the bottom 3 to win the big prize - $25 whole dollars!! Won it on a baby strait, too! The table, overall, was pretty loose and maniacal - which made me nervous 'cause it's dern near impossible to put people on hands. Some really bad players early on. I surmised that this was going to be a "who has the high card" type of game, and I was less than optimistic on my ability to beat this kind of play because of my low tolerance for it. But I marshaled my patience - played my premium cards, didn't chase, got out if I didn't improve on the turn if I went that far. I got out of the way when the short stacks were in and let others do the job of taking them out, unless I felt I had a sure thing in the pocket. Then, as the field narrowed, I loosened up and gradually got more aggressive. When we were down to 4, I slowed way down (I had the 2nd biggest stack at this time) and let the other large stacks take out #4. Bam - I'm in the money and before I know it, I'm chip leader. I let #2 take out #3 and it's a race for the finish. I held my own heads up - was even all in a couple of times. My opponent was a worthy one - our heads up was probably the longest play of the game - we went into endgame about even. I went into high gear - I didn't back down whenever I got a piece of the flop, rarely folded, and got real aggressive - I'd say my opponent was adopting the same strategy - except that he played out too many draws without improving his hands. I also got a few lucky flops on hands I would've mucked in a New York minute in regular play. Wow.....what a great feeling. I needed this after a too long stretch of dryer-than the-Mojave cards. Look out, WSOP, here I come! (yeah, right.....) ;^) | ||
