| I'm the SB and get Ad Jc. 6 people at the table. 1 MP folds the other 5 call, I call flop is 7s Td, 9d. It missed me but I still have 2 overcards for all they are worth (and 3 to a straight and 3 to a flush). I check and everyone else checks... would it have been ok to bet here with 6 high pair outs and 2 possible back door hands? What if I was in late position and everyone checked to me? then could I bet it? Anyways, I checked it (in EP) which I think is right... and betting in LP may have been right too. What if someone bet here, do I fold even with 2 overcards? Turn comes up a Qs. I check, next 2 check, third guy bets, forth folds. I call and one of the guys after me call. I am sitting with an inside K straight draw and an A draw so I have 7 outs. I called a dollar bet here with only $3.5 in the pot. With 7 outs, I need around $6.60 in the pot to make this a right call and with 2 people still in the pot, It's not likely I will get them to throw in another $3+ after I hit it on the river so I am thinking this was not the correct thing to do. (especially since 3 of my outs, the A might still lose me the hand to a AQ, AK) Am I right that I should have folded here? Anyway it worked out, I hit the A on the river and they each threw in an extra dollar for me. But was this too risky of a bet (I'm thinking yes)? | ||

ALL of your outs are least somehwhat tainted (Jd could give someone a flush and Jo could complete a straight; Aces are a bit cleaner but you could still lose to AK, AQ, AT, or A9--the latter being possible holdings for your opponents). And with so many opponents, you can't expect to win this pot on a bluff. I check and everyone else > checks... would it have been ok to bet here with 6 high pair outs and 2 > possible back door hands? Bet with overcards when 1) your outs are clean and you're getting good pot odds and/or 2) you might win the pot outright. You're 0 for 2. Good check. Anyways, I checked it (in EP) which I think is > right... and betting in LP may have been right too. What if someone bet here, do I fold even with 2 overcards? You lucked out. But we all deserve to get lucky from time to time, so chalk it up good karma. | ||

| I agree with checking in EP but betting if you were in LP and everyone had checked to you. On the turn you actually have an opended str8 draw, not an inside str8 draw. The board is 7T9Q and you have AJ so any 8 or K gives you a str8. However, youcant count the j's as outs because if a J comes, anyone with a K or 8 already has a str8. I would say you have 11 outs. Four 8's, 4 K's and maybe 3 A's. I say maybe because someone could have A7 or A9 and an ace would give them 2 pair. With a small pot, I think you're better off folding escpecially considering where the bet came from. There could be a check raise coming although I doubt it. | ||
