I would consider myself to be a good, but not excellent poker player. Of course, this is at kitchen table games. I'm assuming at a casino poker room I would be shark bait, considering I've only played once at a casino before (hold 'em tourney).

Does anyone know which casino in Laughlin, NV would be best suited for a novice/beginner player? (i.e. a poker room full of beginners or below average players like me). Low limit is also highly prefered ($2-$4 or even $1-$2).

Thanks!

Please see my post in the News section about the four Laughlin cardrooms.

I would stick to the Colorado Belle for $2-5 Hold'em. They also have very low buy-in tourneys. Do not go to the Riverside or the Flamingo. The River Palms would be fine, but the action is just so dead there.

Thanks for the info, Felicia. Would you say the 'Belle's $2-$5 spread game is a loose-passive game or a loose-agressive game? The Palms?

Belle 2-5=extremely loose and passive. Mostly 65+ year old seniors. They can "get in" for the ONE forced blind of $2, so they limp on most hands, but fold instantly to a raise, on any street, unless they have you beat. Awful game, IMHO.

Palms=almost exactly the same as the above, but you will rarely find a game going, and if you do, there will only be one table. According to one dealer (as he told me last night), there is a rich action player staying at the River Palms and making the max bets and raises on almost every street, so the game has been wild. I think he said that the guy even plays hands blind sometimes. Bonus!

Felicia,
Just read up on your Laughlin poker room reviews, and you had mentioned that the 'Belle is mostly a no-fold'em hold'em game. How can this also be a loose passive game as well?

Not trying to be smart, just looking for clarification, or maybe my understanding of some of the lingo is off! ;-)

They can "get in" cheaply before the flop for only $2.00, so they see almost every flop. There are hardly any raises, hence the term "passive." They will fold if there are multiple raises and they have absolutely no draw, but they don't really expect raises, so they are super loose, seeing most flops. They are so passive that they will often bet the minimum $2.00 after the flop, even if they have a monster. Raises are usually the minimum, they will raise an additional $2.00, to make it $4.00.
