Not really a bad beat story, but it's funny enough to share.

I am playing $25 NL. My friend is watching me play and I am instant messaging him what my cards are so he can learn what good starting hands are. I've watched him play and he is a flop addict. I've asked him why he plays K2 and Q2 and he says because it is cheap. I try to tell him that he is throwing away money.

Anyways, I am in the BB with 102s. I message him that I have 102s. I plan to check. I get distracted while I switch channels on the TV since a guy is taking forever to make a play. Out of the corner of my I, I see that it is my turn to act. I didn't notice that it was raised to $3 and there was one caller. I clicked what I thought was check and looked at the TV again. An early better was taking a long time, apparently whether he wanted to call the $3. I look at the screen and see $3 infront of my player!!! I get an message from my friend, "I thought YOU didn't LIKE 102s???" I tried to explain what happened, but was only met with sarcastic messages. That's a true friend. Needless to say, the flop missed me and another player bet $4. I of course folded only to be met with more message from my friend, "Oh, you call $3 preflop but not $4" and so forth. Aaaah good times.

And of course, it is safe to assume that you and your friend would NEVER use Instant Messenger to communicate hole cards when you're both involved in the same pot . . . correct?

Never. The few times we have played together, I have found that taking money off him is sweeter than any other money I have won. The rub in factor is incredible.

Next time we play golf and he has a tough putt to make, I can always say "Remeber that hand when I slow played you?". His head might pop off!!! Aaaah, good times.
