...And i came in 2nd!! it was a $5 + .50. I am pretty stoked about it, but I want to ask a question about the hand I busted out on:

We've been heads up for a while, i'm down to about 450 and he's got the rest. This is a 6-handed game, and the blinds are 50-100.

I'm holding AKo, opponent limps, flop is JTx rainbow. He checks, I'm thinking he's got Ts or the rags, maybe.

I check back, the turn's a rag. He bets big, so I bet all in because I might make the str8 or hit a top pair. He calls my all in and wins with J8o.

Comments on my play?

I'd have went all in pre flop. ok I'd have lost but he's going to call with virtually anything anyway and you cant afford to wait.

With AKo head to head, I would have gone all in preflop. Make him make a choice.

I am by no means an expert but if I'm a short stack and get AK in head to head competition, I'm going all in before the flop. I would never have called his all in when you had nothing but a straight draw. Just my opinion and like I said, I consider myself an average player.

First, congrats!!
Isn't SnGs fun?

With that amount of money in my stack and blinds being 50/100, I would go all-in (as a lot of other people have said) with AK pre-flop. You are likely to have the best hand at this time and he is likely to call with anything but the really crappy hands.
In this case you would have lost anyway, but you got your money in their with the best chance.

Hmmm, 2 players left with blinds at 50/100....
The other night I was playing at a table with 5 players left (average stack 1600) and blinds at 300/600, it was almost comical, everyone had to fight for the blinds each turn. This continued for 7 hands until my AKo (like yours) and another guys KQo got busted by a ATo (T on the river).

If you're playing a NL SnG on Party, there would be a total of 8000 chips, and you said you had 450? Seeing a shortstack with 450 going all-in is not scary when you have 7550 chips. At this point, he can go all-in every hand for three hands in a row - and (assuming you call everyone) he only has to win ONE to beat you.
I'm not saying this to depress you, but just so you'll realize that chip position is the predominant element of strategy left at this point in the game. He's going to call your all-in with just about anything. Take advantage of your good hand and use this knowledge to your benefit - go all-in and hope that you win.
