Tells - You found it keep it to yourself, Blue Sky, 6. Nov 2003 13:41 | ||

| I just returned from an extended trip to Vegas with a buddy. We're pretty much all business in the poker room...we don't speak to each other or even acknowledge each others presence. For the most part we play at different tables but found ourself at the same table one night. I was in MP and raised with AKs. The button and an EP player called. The button was a local player who fancied himself to be a little better then he was and wanted to let everyone know he was better thenthey were. The flop brought garbage and when checked to I bet and was raised by the button. EP mucked and I took probably 10 seconds or so and re-raised. The button called and bet when I checked and then mucked on the turn. The button not knowing that the guy next to him is my buddy leans over and tells my friend to watch how long it takes for me to act after I'm raised because I give away a tell based on how long I take. I excused my self to go to the bathroom when my buddy got up a little later and gave me the "follow me" head nod. My friend tells me that the button thinks he is on to me and I keep the info in the back of my mind for a couple of hours. I get heads up on the turn with the button once again and I bet out with the nut straight. He raises me and I sit back and act like I'm thinking about it...I poped it and was able to get him to put in more money. The very next hand we get heads up again and I missed the flop but bet out and get raised....I fired my re-raise into the pot so quick I almost beat the button's chips into the pot. He mucked and I slid my nothing of a hand to the dealer with a chip on top. Moral of the long winded story is to me carefull about getting chummy with the fellas at the table. The local guy is thinking he's going to help out his new found friend but it actually backfired and I took a pot that was much bigger then it should of been and another pot that I had no business being in. | ||

| You know what Blue Sky, I would like to know how you consider this move different than any other form of collusion? First I agree that: A) never correct or point out another players bad play B) and listening to someone saying they found a tell is one of them BUT... I still think this move was cheap. You and your friend set this guy up and stole money from him. To me, that is the bottom line. JMHO | ||

| Nope. He freely gave information to someone without investigating who it was. In my mind, every piece of "public" information (and by not keeping something to yourself, you are broadcasting it) can and should be used to one'sadvantage. | ||

| Collusion? Like the guy making a read on me and then telling someone else what to look for? That kind of collusion? I had a leak in my game, I didn't know about it and the guy picked up on it. He then tells a random stranger at the table who may or may not be with me. I didn't set this guy up in any such manner, we didn't go into the game as a team. I just happened to benefit that someone is smart enough to pick up on a leak in my game but not smart enough to keep quite about it. | ||

| Blue Sky. I have to apologize. I re-read your post and it is clear I misunderstood what had occurred. I thought your friend set up the unsuspecting person by telling about a tell so that you could use it to your advantage. When I re-read it, it clearly says that your friend was advised of your tell by this person and THEN you used it to your advantage. I agree with you that there was no collusion and that it was totally on the up and up. I stand by my position that if your friend and you set the guy up that it would have been collusion (and real bad taste, but TOTALLY stupid on the other guy's part for listening), but I stand humbly corrected and I apologize. | ||

| Big Frank, Its all good, Bro. I agree if my buddy is giving info to the table so that I can set them all up later then that is collusion and something I would never be apart of. I personally cannot even stand it when two people obviously know each other and bet everyone else out and then check it out heads up to be "nice" to one ahother. I think that move is very low and have only done it once, but the chick was a really bad player and hot as hell and I had other things I wanted to do with her other then play poker. | ||

| I think it would be collusion if Blue's friend asked the guy if he knew what Blue's tell was then told Blue what he found out. This guy gave out unsolicited information. | ||
