| I have only played play money games until two weeks ago while I read as much literature as possible to prepare myself for real money games. I can definately say there is no comparison. In the last couple of days I think I have learned more from watching a couple of players that have been at my table than from anything else thus far. A player named ancho_mujer has unfortunately/fortunately been at a couple of tables I have played at over the last couple of days and has just dominated. Very rarely did they ever reach the showdown and did not win the hand and it was usually a good size pot as they seemed to always maximize the bets. I guess what I am trying to say is always pay attention to the other players, especially the good ones as they can only help to improve your game. My fledgling poker career is still in the red but hopefully with application of some things I have learned in the last couple of weeks along with continued reading it will be in the black soon. | ||

| I think you have a good plan for continued improvement. Preparing yourself with all the relevent literature will definately shorten your learning curve but in my opinion some of the most important learning tools are your opposition at the table. There is no better learning tool than spending time at the tables and observing what works and what doesn't from your opponents and trying to implement the good stuff and weed out the bad. The player you mentioned is definately a good model to watch (I certainly haven't had much success against her/ she is definately no slouch) and I am sure you will find more of them as your time increases at the tables. Good luck improving your skills, just hopefully not at my expense! | ||
