Online LHE vs. B&M: Please Help, Bart Mann, 6. Nov 2003 11:43 | ||

| I need some guidance regarding online LHE ring games (at UB.com, for example). Since I started playing online I’ve been sticking primarily to two things: SNG tournaments, and No-Limit Holdem ring games. To shake things up a bit, I’d like to try some Limit Holdem at either the $2/$4 or $3/$6 levels. This is primarily what I play when I visit the local B&M, and I’m happy with my results. But my question is this—is the “texture” of online Holdem at these limits different than it is at a B&M? Do you find that the players are more loose, more passive, more aggressive, more skilled, etc. online than they are at a B&M card room? At the local B&M these limits attract four types of players: 1) retired gentlemen and gentlewomen who sit around all day and wait for the nuts, 2) maniac post-high school kids who play every hand, 3) middle-aged power drinkers who know exactly how to play according to “the book,” but rarely do so, and 4) recreational players (like me) who play a lot of poker and have a strong desire to constantly improve their game. Is the makeup any different online? Before I sit down at a table I’d like to know what to expect. Any help you guys can give would be appreciated. - Bart - | ||

| Friday and Saturday nights after midnights you get a lot of the middle aged power drinkers playing online. Other than that, you get the learners in 50-$1.00 limit games and the people who think they know what they are doing in the 3-6 game. Guinnessman | ||

| So you think the $3/$6 game is a good spot to jump in? | ||

| I can't speak much for ultimate bet because I have played very little there but the 24 and 36 games at party are very beatable at all hours of the day. In my opinion I don't see much difference in them from the low limit games at a B&M although there are some VERY good players that do play at these limits online for the most part the players are pretty soft and some are downright pitiful (and for them I say a prayer every night). Good luck. | ||
