| Its a rebuy tourney. Lets say if I lose my blinds and Im at T975, should I rebuy right away or wait? Its unlimited rebuys for the first Hour. and an Addon. They usually get around 100 players in this tourney. How big do you think the prize pool will be? I figure with unlimited rebuys and and addon it may be up over $12500. Is that a reasonable guess? Any other advice would be appreciated. Should I wear sunglasses? This is my first live tourney!!!! | ||

| Nah, don't rebuy right away. If I'm at T975 and rebuy period is coming to an end, I'll rebuy as they'll be bigger stacks then and you'll want to get up to par. But not at the beginning. See if you can build a stack first before you sink more money in. If I lose half my original stack, I'll rebuy. I don't like to wait until I'm down to felt to rebuy if I can help it. Also, unless your stack is a monster, you'll usually do the addon. Normally, the chips are cheaper than the original buyin and everyone will take the addon. Don't be a rebuy junkie. You will see all manner of bad play with people trying to double through and taking big chances because they know they can just rebuy to stay in the tourney if they lose. Don't be overly loose like this. You can take more chances when you know you can rebuy, but don't get crazy like some of the players you'll see. I'll rebuy once, maybe twice, and then plan on doing the rebuy. Rebuy prize pools tend to get pretty big because of all the maniacal play during the rebuy period. You'll see some guys rebuy five or six times. So, yeah, it's likely to be pretty juicy. Good luck, and don't wear sunglasses. | ||

| Rebuy as soon as possible, after your first blinds if you can. What happens if you win a small pot early and aren't allowed to rebuy at all but still have a sucky stack? Always take the add-on. Don't play like a degenerate just because it's a rebuy tournament, you are not going to win this tournament in the first round so play tight and observe your opponents. Wear the shades, if this is your first tournament it is natural for you to be squirrelly. I envy you, I haven't played a real live tournament since April, so have some fun and good luck. on 6. | thanks for the advice. Thats what i was planning on. Im not going to play wild...but may take a few chances if the opportunity comes. I plan to rebuy right away and definetly taking the add on. | ||

| In a rebuy event, I always rebuy immediately and always add on even if I am chip leader. I play tighter than most during the rebuy period and only take risks that I am on the better side of the odds. I also try not to get anyone all in or call any all ins, pre flop unless I have AA or KK since may people during the rebuy period will go all in with any pair. My goal is to come out of the rebuy period with 5X the starting stack. This would be 1X for buyin, 1X for the immediate rebuy, 1X for the add on and 2X of chips I have earned. This varies some when rebuys and add ons are not the same # of chips I started with. I think of the entry fee for these tournies to be the entry, rebuy and add on rolled into one. (ex. $30 + 3 rebuy touney is really a $93 entry...$33+$30+$30). If I do get knocked out before rebuys are over, I usually rebuy 2X right away and treat it like I just started again unless the table avereages more than 5x the initial buy in, in which case I usually quit. | Great advice. So im im late in the rebuy period and there are alot of high stacks at my table, you think its best to quit? What kind of competition should i expect at this tourney? I think ill be a little nervous at first since this is my first live B&M tourney. | ||

| The tournament really starts after the rebuy period. If you are considerably short stacked, I would not rebuy at that point. This only happens at a wild table that there are many rebuys during the rebuy period, making your rebuy not worth much since the blinds will be about 5X the starting point. This is only a personal opinion and goes against most thinking since the money in the pool is greater from all the rebuys. I just don't like paying more money late in the round to be the short stack. If the stacks are only 2-2.5 the size you would have (not a wild table for the rebuy period) I would definately rebuy. The competition at the Trop was not that good for the $100 rebuy touney. I made about $300 for the tournament and I don't think I played all that well. There was about 130 people and I was the last gone before the final table. I do like to wear the white hat and sunglasses and then play tight for the image that puts out though. I tend to get more callers when I have the nuts because I look like I just got done watching the WPT. Guinnessman | ||
