| A few messages back someone asked to see how to calculate flopping a set. There were several responses, so many that I didn't bother to read all of them, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating the correct response of someone else. However here is the correct answer. I assume that you meant flop atleast a set, full house and quads would be counted also. Using combinatorics, since there are 50 cards left in the deck, besides the 2 in your hand there are exactly 50C3 (spoken 50 choose 3) unique 3 card flops or 19,600 unique flops. If you take away the other 2 cards of your rank from the deck then there are now 48 cards left, hence 48C3 unique flops without your rank(17,296 flops). Therefore all the remaining flops(19,600 - 17,296 = 2,304) contain atleast one of your rank. So if you take the total number of flops and divide by flops with atleast one of your rank 19,600 / 2,304 = 8.5 : 1. This means that for every one time you hit it 8.5 times you won't on average. This is the same as 10.5%, 1/9.5 = .105. Hope that helped. | ||
