Hi, does anyone know a website or book that gives fairly comprehensive odds tables for various poker hands. I know a lot of the basic stuff but what about stuff like odds of QQ turning out best against 9 random hands, What is the average starting hand, if I have 10 J suited, what are the chances I'll make 2 pair or better. etc. I know anything can be worked out but I'm sure someone has already done the work and published it. Thanks

yea im looking for the same info *and have asked a few times*
i HATE the fact that most everyone says 72o is a lousy hand but they dont give you numbers to back it up *whereas draw to a gutshot or a 2 outer and you hear nonstop numbers why its bad*

Rule #1 of Poker
Circumstances alter cases
Rule #2 NEVER forget rule #1

There are many many odds answers available, just click the "odds" link at the bottom of this forum and peruse the tables. If you still have questions, feel free to post.

Thanks Schuster. I have already checked these tables and they are very helpful, however I'm hoping to find something more comprehensive that gives figures for more than just the main probabilities. I'm sure its out there somewhere.

I doubt anyone has compiled statistics like this simply because there wouldn't be a meaningful way to present such data. For instance, I could tell you that 22 defeats 9 other random hands ~10% of the time or that 77 defeats 9 other random hands ~15% of the time, but this has nothing to do with the way poker is actually played. Players don't play any two cards all the way to the river 100% of the time (not even the loosest player in the world); they check and fold their poor hands. So if you hold 77, now the 5 players that would statistically lose to you fold their hands because they have total junk, and maybe one of the players that would have beaten you statistically folds too because he doesn't think his hand will stand up to the others. So instead of having the 5th best hand (on average) out of 10 random hands, you're now holding the worst hand out of 4 selectively chosen ones. Go figure 77 is not considered an overly dangerous hand in a 10-handed game.

Any attempt to answer "what are the chances that my starting hand will win out?" must naturally take into account the playing behavior of all the other players at the table, i.e. whether they are loose or tight, passive or aggressive, whether they bluff a lot, what starting cards they're willing to play, how they deal with issues of position, etc... You may have excellent winning chances holding 77 against a very loose and passive group of players, but against tight and aggressive players, you may need to fold.

After some searching for a page I came across at some time in the past... I'm hoping this might be similar to what you are looking for?
