Differences between $30 SnG and $50 SnG on party, palman, 4. Nov 2003 19:57 | ||

| I've done a handful of 50's (30-50 of them) and they were few and far in between of my 30's so I perhaps couldnt get a completely accurate read on them (and did ok at them) but for me anyways, at the $30 dollar level, no one gives you any respect for being tight the first four rounds. If I get rockets or cowboys, 90% of the time I will get people calling large preflop raises with them, 4-5 times the blinds. While the 50's have the nutcases as well, they seem to be more aggressive, and therefore bust out sooner. But they also seem to take notice of how players are playing and I can't sit and wait as effectively as I can on the 30's, which I do think is the ideal strategy for sit n go's. So when I made the switch to 50's a while back I quickly came to the conclusion that the 30's were more profitable, although I'm confident I can beat the 50's, I have thought it to be for less profit with higher swings, so have just stayed with the 30's. anyone else's thoughts? | ||

| I think there is a noticeable jump in quality between $30 and $50 tournaments. Even if you can make a couple bucks an hour more at $50, I think your variance will be much higher since you will be in the money less often, and you'll have less fun playing. | ||

| Is this on Party? If so, there's a big difference now. $50 and up SNGs get 1000 chips while the cheaper ones still have 800. That puts some more play in the HU end game, but also means you'll have more situations where there's still 7 left when the blinds go to the strategy changing 100/50 level. As you move up in $$, the players play the correct strategy more often, ie, they don't put all their chips in early on coin flip gambles and wait to unleash aggression until late 50/25 level. Now there's still craziness, enough to make them profitable. I had a $50 recently where by midway through the 50/25 level it was down to 4 players. One was short with 300, and had they not won an all-in I would have made the money without even playing a hand! But overall, the higher you go, the less crazy the action is in the early rounds and the more players there are when 100/50 comes around. | ||
