| Some of you might remember my earlier post that stated that after 2000 hands at $2/$4, I had a win rate of 4.1 BB/Hr. As expected, several people said that this wasnt enough hands to measure win rate. I disagreed about the number of hands being too small (mainly because Ive played another 20000 or so at smaller limits with results just slightly lower), although I acknowledged that is was highly unlikely that I could sustain a win rate that high. Now comes the problem. All of the sudden the poker gods have turned against me. The last 1200 hands or so, I cant win to save my life. Im down about 3BB/Hr over that time frame. Thats ridiculous. erI dont feel like Ive played any differently, I just keep getting beaten. I get a flush and lose to a boat. I get 3 Q's with a K kick..someone has 3 Q's with an Ace kicker. I have A3 in the BB anf lop and ace and 3...other guy chases with QJ and gets runner runner Q's. Today a guy reraised me at the turn with an inside str8 draw and hit it. How long do these streaks last? I ve never had s streak like this and am losing my confidence. I cant imagine that I was just lucky all this time and that Im really not very good, but who knows. | ||

| Welcome to mean reversion. That is why the BEST players earn roughly 2- 2.5 BB's per hour, even at the low limits. You can play perfectly and still go through runs like this. As to how long can/will it last? Tough to say. However, I have read of professionals who have hand bad runs that last months at a time. It is during these times where the best players rise to the top and continue to play their best every time out. We all can play well when the deck is running us over; it s much more difficult to do this when nothing is going right. Stick with it, play your game and it will turn around. You might also take a few days or even a week off and not think or read about poker at all. Everyone needs a vacation every once in a while. Steve | ||

| Well, I am going on vacation next week anyway so maybe that will help. I almost broke my monitor today so I think that might qualify as "tilt". Like I said , I dont feel like Ive changed my play, but my judgement could be clouded right now. | ||

| Ice- I recently came off a run of about 6 weeks where I left behind 11 out of 12 sessions (the up session I was only up about 3 BBs for the session). I'm actually quite proud of the run, because I kept my losses minimal; slightly under 1 BB/hr during that time. In addition, my game has nomalized again, and I'm still in the black overall. I don't know how long they can last, but that is the longest I have had so far. -Moz "Did you exchange a walk-on part in a war for the lead-role in a cage?" | ||

| only been playing since june 30th. however, i just came thru a 3 week period like you just described. even a rare fhouse was beaten by a bigger one a couple of times. i questioned my play to the point i didnt think i would ever be good enough to play poker and almost decided to close account and go back to checkers..lol. it finally did end though. thanks to these forums on poker i found that all players will go thru these periods..thanks for your post. | ||

| So Im in the middle of this horrible losing streak right? So, I decide to play a SNG, thinking I can get alot of hands in for a small investment. Im in seat 1 and get nothing to play the first round. The BB comes to me and I have A7. I get a free play with 3 limpers so this is my first hand. The flop is A57 rainbow. I cant remember the exact betting but at the river the board is A544A. I am headsup with one of the limpers and figure the worst I can do is split with my full house. He turns over A5 for a higher full house. Unbelievable. I just sat there shaking my head. I took a break and then played $1/$2 (Ive been playing $2/$4). My cards were so bad that I played only 2 hands out of 40 outside the blinds. I did win a big pot from the BB so I quit ahead about 6BB, but I still cant believe the cards. | ||
