| Hi Tron, The thing that you need to remember (and I know it's hard) is to realize that you don't have to get your money back all in one session. Money will come and go, winning sessions will come upon you and so will losing sessions -it's a part of the game. I'm not sure what your bankroll is for the limits in which you play, but if you're playing within the means of your bankroll, then it should be able to withstand the losses, too. If losing one big session effects you that much, and/or your bankroll, you are playing too high a limit. But if you are playing at a limit that is correct for your bankroll size AND for your caliber of play, then fine. Now, you should only continue to play when you feel that you are at your very, very best, and when you start to get anxiety about the amount that you are currently losing in the game.....then it's time to quit. Please don't think (or feel) that every time you sit down it's just going to go your way, because it's not like that. (Not for anyone tron). If you play solid poker (and I know you're probably tired of hearing this, but it's true), then you'll have good results in the long run. Poker is not about what you made this week, and it's not about what you lost the week before, or the month before. It's all about playing in games where *you* are better then your opponents are....your skills outweigh their skills.........and your *emotions* and your positive mindset, never leave your side. Everything is in tact. At all times. Always. And when you start to lose one of those edges....it's bye-bye. Call it quits and play when you are focused on only one thing...and that's playing your best, when at your best. I'm gonna tell you a little story about that "got to win it back" mentality. Long before I went pro, I was sitting in a $10-20 stud game and I was *15 dollars* from being even after sitting in the game getting my ass handed to me all day. I was tired, I was cranky, and I was pissed....(and because of that), I wasn't playing anywhere *near* as well as I was when I first sat down. But did I leave after feeling like I was ready to collapse? No. I did not. I am too good a player to leave with ANY kind of loss. Heck, I'm "supposed" to win in this "great" game. So I sat, and I sat.......and about five hours later, my $15 loss turned into a one thousand dollar loss!!! All because I had to win it back, and was playing "catch up" in the game. And ya see tron, the dollar amounts don't matter when you are caught up in that kind of mentality.....it's the wrong kind of thinking and it can CRUSH you completely. That session I just told you about will never leave my mind because.....DUE to that session, I have found the true meaning of the word self- discipline. Self -discipline protects your bankroll. It protects your mindest and well-being. It allows you to keep the proper control over your emotions, and it protects your body, all together. I realize now that I don't have to or *need* to win every single time I sit down because in the long run, I get the money anyway. And you know what's ironic tron? My biggest edge over my opponents are my self-discipline skills - and It takes alot more than just playing your hands correctly that will keep your head above water. Self-discipline is something you obtain by wanting the need to obtain it. It's also one of the KEY ingredients that separates the winners from the losers. I hope you find it for yourself if you already haven't, and I hope I helped to shed some light in your direction. Hang in there, and take care. 4P- | ||
