Hi

Are any of you using Poker Tracker Software? If so...what are your opinions of it?

Do you find it easy to use? Valuable? A good source of good info?

Please let me know!

Hi Roy, I tried the trial version to see what it would be like and I found it difficult to use. It wasn't very user friendly, but maybe it's just me.

Have you or anyone else used Statking? Maybe it's better??

I agree, I also find it hard to use. (trial version) The import feature is nice, but I only have money in my Planet account and there is no option for planet.

Hi Roy,

I use pokertracker and I think it's great for the limit games I play. I disagree with the others, I think it's fairly easy to use, but I am somewhat used these sort of things. It is definately worth the cash I coughed up for it. It helped out a lot on my blind play. My suggestion would be to download the trial and see how you like it. You can import up to 1000 hands and you have access to all the features to see how you like it.

Hmmm... surprized at the previous posts. I am LOVING it! I do play on pokerstars, which pokertracker includes in its listing of sites.

I should, however, make a few qualifications to my love of the software:
1) When I first got it, I did have a tendency to distract myself from the game at hand by worrying about getting everything downloaded. Then I discovered the autorequest feature and made a point of getting everything set up before even sitting down at the table.
2) It did take me a while to figure out what kinds of things you can call up and how to do it. But I've had that problem with every new piece of software I've ever had.
3) I can still distract myself by trying to look up data on my opponents rather than watching what's going on at the table (missing one round of betting can leave me clueless as to how people are playing the current hand). Currently, I'm usually clicking on the "wait for big blind" option when I sit down and then using my free time to look up any recognizable opponents in the database. And I'm also trying to use the icons and comments features so I can immediately recall my opinion of other players and get back to observing the table. Going through and setting up the "game table" seems to me a distraction not worth the time necessary to do it (possible exception would be if you have or can take a fair amount of time before playing and suspect you have good data on a majority of the opponents--but even there I've run into several opponents who seem fishy as hell one day and pretty strong the next)
The benefits of identifying weaknesses in play as well as gathering data on opponents seem well worth it to me. It's just important (for me at least) to do one's analysis AFTER (and briefly BEFORE) playing and not DURING.

Hi Roy,

I've been using poker tracker for a couple of months now and it's easily the best $40 I've ever spent on a poker resource. It does take some getting used to but that's mostly because of the huge amount of data available to you.

The game time window is especially useful, particularly once you have built a database of several thousand hands. It's great to be able to look at players you haven't played often enough with to remember much about and notice that they are playing 50% of their hands, raising 15% pre flop, only winning 20% at showdown , etc.

In short, I would definitely buy this program . It pays for itself many times over.

Chris
