I have just started playing in the $5 limit SnG's.
What would be a good percentage of making the money
for a good player. I need a goal to shoot for.

I'd say 75 - 85% for a GREAT player in NL.... But limit is a little bit different... You'll always have those unpredictable finishes where somebody limped into a hand with 4/7 suited, catches a 17 out draw, and hits it on our friend the river :)

But if you play your best poker - and make the best possible decision every hand - you'll come out on top, with great profit.

Profitability seems to be the best and easiest goal to track. If you are making money, you're above average for the format/entry you're playing. As you move up in entry stakes, though, the game changes as do the players' skill levels, so you have to track independently.

I dont have the number in front of me, but I ve played about 125 $10 SNG's and have been in the money in about 53% of them with a return of also about 53%. Im not sure where that falls but Im happy with it. For some reason though Ive only placed in the money in 1 out of 7 $20 SNG's. The players in the 20's arent any better so its probably just bad luck.

Over the last three months, I've played in close to 300 SnG's at Party, primarily at the $30 and $50 tables. I've finished in the money approx. 44% of the time with the following breakdown:

1st = 48
2nd = 49
3rd = 35

This has allowed me to turn a $150 initial deposit into over $4500. Included in this amount are my winnings from the various multi's I've played in, including a 4th place finish that payed almost $1000. Is 44% a good number? I don't know, but for me, I am quite satisfied with the results so far. Hope this helps.

I've said it before, and bailey is his records are accurate say it again. I highly doubt anyone consistently cashes over 50% of the time over the long haul, there is simply too much luck involved in cashing (since you do have to go all in once or twice) to cash at the low level sit n go's.

Bailey's 44% win rate resulted in 4500 profit in 300 sit n go's, if people were getting 50-75% or some of the ridiculous %'s I've heard, they'd be up $10k, which I just don't see happening. *As I've re-read bailey's post I do notice he also plays 50's, which detracts from my point some*

I'm at about the 5-6k profit mark on $30 dollar sit n go's but I believe I've done more around 1000 + of them, playing one table at a time. And after 1000 + sit n go's of playing on party I havent met anyone whose win rates I would imagine would be significantly higher than mine. Perhaps if people play them enough at the $30 level somone could critique my play if they do in fact have a higher win %, since they've likely played numerous times with me.

I'm luckykid on party.
