| Barry, I went to Tunica last night and played the Grand. 4Poker gave you the information on Horseshoe already. So here is my scoop on the Grand. The Grand has a nice room and the people are friendly though sometimes too occupied to give you all the information you're looking for. They have a monitor visible so you can track where you stand on the waiting list. The room is enclosed so it drastically cuts down the slot machine noise and the room isn't nearly as smokey as Horseshoe. They were spreading a couple stud games, 3 or 4 4-8 HE, 2 10-20s (1 must move), and a 15-30. They had a list for a NL game that never got started. The regulars say that it rarely gets going, but when it does the blinds are either 2-5 or 5-10 depending on player preference. I played the 10-20 and found it to be one of the softest 10-20s I've ever played in. Much softer than the 10-20s I've played at the Horseshoe. In my 12 hours of play there were never more the 3-4 "good" players and always 3-4 "bad" players at the table. Lots of passive calling stations. They were also incorporating (within the last couple weeks) some automatic shufflers on a trial run. Management seemed to like them and were pushing to have them put in more tables. Food is free to players, they have self-serve soft drinks available for free, and with 5 hours of play you get the poker room rate for a room (35 bucks compared to 100 buck regular rate) Due to a poor experience with Horseshoe last time I was there I think I will make the Grand my "B&M poker destination" for the time being. (Last trip to the shoe, I felt I was held on the "wait list" WAY longer than I should while some "regulars" got some "buddy" treatment) Anyway, thats all I got Will | ||
