does it get better than this?, KJo, 2. Nov 2003 01:02

So tonight at the Bike I:

A. won playing 6-12, enough to enter the NL tournament

B. finished in the money in the multi-rebuy tournament, after buying no rebuys and one add-on

C. went back to 6-12 after the tourney and won some more

D. was given an extra $20 by accident when cashing out (I didn't notice until I got home- I wouldn't do them like that)

Somehow "D" was best, something about found money. I like the Bike now :)

Eli,
If I can't convince you on it's own merit that returning the $20 would be best - think of it this way:
You walk in and ask to speak to the manager (Hashem Minaiy), you explain the situation and tell him that you had no idea what the protocal was to give the money back but didn't want to give anyone the opportunity for an indiscretion. I personally guarentee you that will be worth alot more than $20 during your poker career. Incidentally, I realize the word 'guarentee' doesn't mean quite what it did twenty years ago so let me define it as $20 out of my pocket if you feel you don't come out ahead.

BTW - good job tonight :)

Boy, way to ruin my fun :)

I know it's the right thing to do, I will next time I'm there. Karma and all, I believe in it.

KJ, good decision :-) regardless of whether or not it was money out of the casino's pockets or the cashier's; but I think it would have been out of the cashier's pocket. More reason to return it.

They can't legally do that, at least in California. They can discipline an employee for coming up short, but they can't make him cover it.

That does suck. I remember from my days in the service industry that if you come up short you will have to cover it, but legally they can't force you to. They can just "strongly suggest" and then punish you if you don't.

If you were to walk into ANY casino, and say that the window shorted you $20, would you get it?

Do you think they would really pull out the tapes and watch the count? If so, more power to 'em.

Sleep tight.
