NL Tournaments ruining my ring game?, guinnessman, 30. Oct 2003 12:40

I have started playing more PL and NL multi table tournaments (About 10 a week $20-$50) instead of my normal 2-4, 3-6, 4-8 ring games online and have been doing very well at the tournaments. I have placed in the final table 4 of the last 5 tournies I have been in with 1 win and 1 3rd.

My problem is that when one is not available, I have been going back to the ring games and I have been losing about 1/2 BB an hour for the past month. I did have a good rate of 2-3 BB hour online that held solid for about 3 months, since I started tracking my play.

It was not any big losses that brought my average down so I definately think it's a leak in my game. Has anyone else had this happen? What was your leak? I think I am too used to NL now and fold too much...giving raises too much respect for a limit game.

Thanks,
Guinnessman

I have this problem too, it is tough to switch gears. One thing I noticed is I tend to open earlier with crappier hands sometimes in NL tournaments, what Sklansky calls The Gap Concept, and when this carries over into ring games I get killed.
