Removing Implied Odds.....(how to?), WilliamS, 30. Oct 2003 04:51 | ||

| I just read Rolf's article in the current issue of CP magazine and I think he brings up a wonderful point that I'm not quite "good" enough to use yet. REMOVING IMPLIED ODDS Although he is speaking of PL Omaha (and this wasn't the main point of his article).The game I'm thinking of is NL Holdem I think that is a huge tool. Lets say top pair vs 4 flush on the flop heads up. A pot sized bet from top pair will normally not run out the 4 flush draw due to implied odds but if a person bet all-in (presuming it was 5-6 times the size of the pot or bigger) it removes those implied odds and makes the drawer not be able to make the call profitably. Of course, I'm not good enough to consistently put a player on that specific of a hand and I'm sure this wouldn't be a profitable way to play (due to the fact you lose your stack every time your opponent made a set) I'm just using this as an hypothetical example of removing implied odds. My question is how do you guys which really know what your doing use this tool, or do you? I'm also wondering about the contradiction of theories between this style and the style which says you should rarely put ALL your chips at risk (see small bet poker, Glazers article in CP) I understand the concept I'm just struggling with finding the correct scenarios to implement this. Sorry, if this rambles (its early in the morning) Will | ||
