Brier's new book, Ilia, 29. Oct 2003 14:21

Does anybody know when Jim Brier's new hold'em book is coming out? He is close to being my favorite writer because of his style(examples), and I would really enjoy reading anything writenn by him. Also what is the reason he does not write for CardPlayer anymore?

Thanks for the answers

Do you mean Mid-Limit Hold 'Em with Bob Ciaffone? If so, it's out now(and it's terrific). It was just released, so I doubt Brier is releasing another book anytime soon (though if I'm wrong, please tell me...I'll be first in line to buy it!)

My understanding the last time I talked to Jim Brier was that he decided not to go through with the second book project (invoving a British company I believe). FWIW, he does not write his poker columns anymore because he is very busy working on his Ph.D.

Thanks for replies,

mkpoker, I know about the Middle Limit, I have it and agree its great.

No, what I was talking about is a new low-limit book Jim was supposed to be writing. That information is from this site, when you click on biographies, it tells you under Jim's that he is working on a new book for a British company.

Howard, thanks for the news, even if its bad. Do you know why he decided against it? I'm sure the book would sell very well, as well as help a lot of newbies. It's a shame, if you see Jim please tell him that his fans ask him to reconsider. In regard to Card Player as well.

Jim is very involved in the world of math right now (getting his Ph.D, teaching, study groups, etc). I'm pretty sure that's the driving force of why he's not doing more poker projects right now. He does sometimes check out UPF & 2+2 when he finds the extra time. But mostly he's very busy at school (though he still plays high stakes poker when time permits). At least the last time I talked to him anyway.
