Finally settling into play....., Andrew W, 28. Oct 2003 00:07

I have been trying to spread my playing online around, seeing where I fit well. I play a lot of low buy in tourneys, and SNGs. I used to do better in SNGs, now it's hit and miss. And with multi table tourneys, I've had some final table success that made up for other losses, but I've found myself shooting myself in the foot and getting just out of the money.

So I did some analysis, and realized that the only time my bankroll steadily increased is when I have deposit money in that I plan to take out when I earn my points. And I earn points by ring games.

So maybe, just maybe, I have a better EV in ring games! Brilliant deduction eh?

Today is my day off, so I've been online a lot - played tourney after tourney, no pay off. But in 1-2 games, I'm reading the tables and maximizing my wins. Even played Phil H himself at UB. (That is nice and all, but dozens of railbirdscome to harrass him and flame bait)

Anyway - I get the feeling I just stepped through some level of enlightenment, where the tournaments look less like a steady soruce of payoff, and I've found my current strength. Still, I like tournaments and have done well enough to play some more.

Does anyone use some formula for bankroll and tournament entries? Meaning, if you're under $500, don't bother with a $30 buy in? That kind of thing?
