2 hands... how to play em...?, Ostebovik, 27. Oct 2003 22:44

I'm playing 5/10 online at a game where I know about half the table. Most of those are tight/aggressive.

I'm 2 off the button and it's folded around to the person on my right whom I don't know. They raise. I look down (virtually since I'm already looking at my cards) to see AJs - hearts. Is this a call?

I did call and the BB called. Flop comes 7hJc3h.

Raiser bets and I raise to see where I'm at w/ top pair top kicker and the nut flush draw. BB calls as does the raiser.

turn is 9h. I love that card but am unsure what to do. Move for the check-raise or bet out... I decide the former is my best option but it's checked around.

River is 3d. Not really liking that but don't see a set out there based on the betting. I bet out, BB folds and raiser pops it. now I'm worried and just call. He turns over JJ for the boat.

What could I have done differently? I'm thinking the first call was where I started the catastrophe...

Second hand...

Same table 2 hands later so I'm on the button.

First three limp then it's raised and called to me. I've got 99 and with that much $ in the pot I think it's a pretty easy call to catch. Maybe I'm wrong again and this is a pattern..?

SB 3bets and BB caps it. ALL Call. it's 2 bets to me and a pretty big pot so I call.

Flop comes 383 w/ no flush draw. It's checked to me. What's my play here? I bet so as not to give a free card. SB calls and BB pops it. One call back to me. I call as does SB.

turn is another 3. I've got a dingy here in a potential storm. It's checked again to me. Again what's my play? I'm a bit confused. I bet it's called around. River is T. Checked to me again and I bet thinking that overcards missed. SB folds, BB CALLS and early bettor calls as well. BB shows KK.

How did I play this wrong if I did?

Any help w/ this as I feel this may be a big leak for me.

Thanks,

Gerard.

I'm confused here. If you're the button two hands later - you must have been the BB right? You also said,

Indicating you were somehow two off the button, before the BB and 1st to act? Position matters in any worthwhile answer so I'm trying to place you on the table and I'm going to need your help.

As I understand it, in the first hand, the player to your right opens for a raise and only you and the BB call. How are you going for a checkraise? You need to clarify who is sitting where.
