| I don't know why that people play bad hands at higher limits but here goes: I get QQ, last to act. I raised, it gets reraised, and capped. flop comes 972 rainbow, 1st to act checks , second guy bets i raise, all 3 of us call the capped bets. next card 5. gets capped again. last card 7. i bet, and get check raised. hmm must have AA, or KK here. Shows me Q7 offsuit. arrrrrrrggggggggggggggg. tks for listening. | ||

| First of all, your QQ was good...but not great. Overpair is decent in this scenario, but there are so many hands that beat you. With that many callers and betting and raising going on....an overpair is almost never going to hold up. You need to get out of that hand earlier. Even if you stayed to see turn. Someone holding 68 payed for the OE STR draw and when the 5 fell you must get out. Even if they werent on the str draw, and two pair beats you, and with the betting, u cant hang on to your QQ. The hardest thing for many players is to let go of a pretty hand. I know the ladies look good together but sometimes you need to give them the Boot. HAHA No doubt when the 7 fell on river opening up any possibilty for a boat or trips....your Q's are worthless...check or fold. The whole time, anyone could have been playing low pockets, and hit trips, OE str draw and hit that, 2 pair, mid pair (7 which hit trips) or higher overpair(KK, AA) ANy of these which would have beat you, I would have probably folded after flop, or on a risky day payed for turn, then definately folded after all the action on the table. | ||

| Not sure I completely agree with Flop here that you should have folded the ladies. However, once the betting is capped pre-flop, you need to slow down. There is a good chance that someone has a pair better than yours, so you want to stay in as cheaply as possible (unless you flop a Queen of course). This ensures two things: you lose less when someone does have that overpair, and if they are steaming with AK, you encourage them to bluff the whole way and you win the maximum. I would have a tough time folding my Queens to that board unless there were very obvious str8 and flush draws (which to me, 68 is not and you didn't mention a flush). However, if an Ace or King came, then they go in the muck without hesitation. | ||

| That is the double edge from having new players in the poker world. On one hand, we have a whole school of fish to extort properly. On the other hand, we have players that will play 2 3 off suit. When you end up with 7 players that act this way, chances are that one of those seven will hit more than your tight play will. Now even though they get lucky, they often don't realize that their lucky play is probably what won the pot, not their skillful play. With that in mind, beats like these will happen often. As far as your cards go, I have no idea what he was doing going crazy with only a pair of sevens. He could have been beat by nines or two pair but I'm sure he never thought of that. As I've said before in other posts, the fish don't care how they especially took down the pot, just that they did. From someone who has the worst tendency to steam, I say make sure you don't vent terribly. Not much sooner than when I lose it, I can usually make it right back from them. | ||
