I realize that this is an often asked question, but here it is again. I have not played online for about six months. Previously I played at Planet Poker, then Paradise Poker. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am an experienced but not above average player

Your last sentence suggests that Party would be best, as I believe there are far more in-experienced players there. I certainly do much better there than UB. And after all, the idea is be the favorite at your table.

DEAR TED

THE SITES THAT YOU MENTIONED, ARE ON ADAM THE EXPERT'S
LIST.

I HAVE BEEN ASSURED BY ROY COOKE, THAT PLANET IS

SOON (OR MAY HAVE ALREADY, I HAVEN'T BEEN THERE FOR

A WHILE) GOING TO UNVEIL A NEW SOFTWARE.

I AM LOOKING FOWARD TO SEEING IT. AS FAR AS THE

BEST PROTECTION AGAINST CHEATING, PLANET IS THE

PLACE TO GO.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT DECIDING WHICH SITE

TO CHOOSE, IS HOW MUCH YOU CAN TRUST THEM!!

IS THE SHUFFLE TRUELY RANDOM? ARE THEY TAKING

THE NECESSARY STEPS, TO PROTECT YOU AGAINST CHEATERS?

ARE THEY GOING WAY OVERBOARD, AND SEIZING MONEY FROM

PEOPLE, ON THE SLIGHTEST SUSPESCION OF CHEATING THAT

HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED BY EXPERTS!!

BUT THE BIGGEST THING OF COURSE IS: ARE YOU GOING

TO GET YOUR MONEY WHEN YOU WANT TO CASH OUT??!!

THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN MAJOR SITES, THAT HAVE

GONE BELLY UP, AND I'M SURE THEY WON'T BE THE LAST.

EVERYONE THINKS THAT HAVING A SITE, IS AS JOHN VORHAUS

SAID IN HIS BOOK "A LICENSE TO PRINT MONEY"

AND YOU CAN BE SURE, THAT THE LESS-REPUTABLE SITES,

ARE NOT JUST GOING TO HAVE YOUR MONEY, SITTING AROUND

IN SOME NICE SAFE-BUT-LOW-PAYING. BANK ACCOUNT.

BUT RATHER, AS GOING TO MAKE SPECULATIVE INVESTMENTS,

HOPING THAT EVERYONE DOESN'T CASH OUT AT ONCE.

AND, I'M NOT SO SURE I TRUST THE "BIG BOYS" TO NOT DO

THE SAME.

FOR THIS REASON, ADAM THE EXPERT, RECOMMENDS THAT

YOU DO NOT LEAVE VERY MUCH MONEY, IN YOUR ACCOUNT.

IF YOU ARE PLAYING BIG GAMES, THIS CAN BE A PROBLEM,

AS THEIR REDICULOUS "MONTHLY BUY IN LIMITS" CAN

PROHIBIT YOU PLAYING, IF YOU WITHDRAW MOST OF YOUR

MONEY, AND HAVE A BIG LOSS.

I JUST FOUND THIS OUT, THE HARD WAY. I DIDN'T EVEN

KNOW THAT I WAS SUBJECTED TO SUCH A THING.

I HAD A LOSS, AND NOW CAN'T PLAY ON POKERSTARS, FOR

THE REST OF THE MONTH.

OK, NO BUSINESS FOR THEM.

I WILL NOT BE SUBJECT TO LOSING SOME HUGE AMOUNT

OF MONEY, IF A SITE GOES BELLY-UP.

IF THE SITES WANT TO "BLACKMAIL" ME, BY NOT ALLOWING

ANOTHER REBUY, THEN SO BE IT. I WILL JUST PLAY

ELSEWHERE.

HERE ARE THE FIVE SITES, WHICH ARE MOST RECOGNIZED

BY EXPERTS, AS TRUSTWORTHY.

THEY MAY NOT BE THE ONLY ONES, BUT THEY ARE SAFE,

AT LEAST FOR NOW.

PLANET, PARTY, PARIDISE, POKERSTARS, ULTIMATE BET.

WITH THESE FIVE, YOU HAVE THE FULL RANGE OF GAMES,

AND TOURNAMENTS.

I REALLY DON'T SEE ANY REASON, TO PLAY ON ANY BUT THESE

FIVE.

AGAIN, ALWAYS REMEMBER, THAT ADAM THE EXPERT DOES

NOT REPRESENT ANY SITE, AND WOULD NOT GIVE A

FALSE RECOMMENDATION, EVEN IF HE DID.

I actually saw a player on Party Poker who sat down in the game with (and get this).......$123,000!! Now they used to give you 10% interest on your money (which would definitely be a "nice incentive" and all), but what person in their right mind would put that much money into an unknown place and have enough confidence in it's safety? I think they have limited that 10% offer to a limit up to $10,000 now, but not to exceed that amount.

Anyway.....You definitely should pick a site that is known to be reputable - one that has been around for awhile and one that also is not some fly by site. I personally feel okay with Party Poker, and I would also feel okay with chosing another site that is on the top of many, many players list to play at. (Paradise, UB, Poker Stars, etc.). But let's face it, when we are dealing with this kind of circumstance/element, anything is possible at any site. You really just have to feel comfortable playing at your chosen site, and have common sense about not leaving too much money in your account. As far as which one to chose?....If you plan on playing alot of tournaments and sit and go's, then I would go with Party or Poker Stars. Both sites (imo) are good sites to chose with plenty of ring games to chose from, as well.

Maybe he just won a few multitable tourneys and hadn't had a chance to cash out yet. :) Damn that's a lotta loot to be sitting around.

Also, I've been thinking about what I will do with any large sums of money won online. There's that whole thing with bringing it into the US with the taxes and such. It's not that I mind paying taxes, but how they tax gambling winnings isn't particularly fair. I'd probably just keep it on UB until I found a way to keep it in some Swedish bank account or something.

HI. "Used to"???

As far as I know, Party still pays 10% per annum on your balance up to $10,000 subject to the following conditions:
1 - You have a minimum of $200 every day that month.
2 - You play at least 200 raked hands that month.
3 - You do not have more than three cashouts in the month.

At least they paid me last month and I hope they are still planning to do it this month.

Hey Barry,

What I was saying was - they used to give you 10% on 'any' amount of money that you had in your balance, but now it's only up to $10,000. Didn't mean to scare ya!

Hey guys, as far as I know, I've met all three of Barry's conditions for receiving a 10% bonus for a few months running now (I only cash out the 1st and 16th of the month). Maybe I just missed it or something, but should I contact support and see about my 10%? Is there a way to tell if they credited my account? Is there a website where they state this as their policy? Thanks in advance for replies.

Hi Lee,

To my knowledge, you had to have opened up your existing account *prior* to February, 2003. If you then meet all the requirements that Barry has listed, then you are entitled to that interest which is credited monthly. But they don't offer it anymore to players who signed up after February, 2003. You can always call them toll-free if you want to talk to someone about it.

I know a very wealthy young poker player who won a big cash tourney on stars and has been known to throw parties as this hi rise condo and let his poker playing pals get into some LL action while buying in with this .2M+ BR. So playing on line using a big, plasma screen monitor and a couple hundred grand BR isn't unheard of .

I think you can't go wrong with PartyPoker, especially if you get a sign up bonus. Releasing the bonus is easier on Party than any other site I have seen.

I enjoy the SnGs on Party and have gotten back into .50/1 ring games.

Also I like Paradise. I have been playing .50/1 there to get my bonus released and I have noticed that most of the games are pretty passive. Raises generally do not cause everyone to fold preflop. You always have chasers and they are easy to spot.

I am cashing out my deposit on Paradise and plan to deposit at UB if they have another bonus.

When you guys keep mentioning Party, does the same hold true for Empire? I know they are the same site more or less, just wondering if it cross applies. I've actually read from a few review sites that empire poker is the site that has the most users of the two.
