| How do people play medium & low pair with A kicker after the flop? For example. You hold A5 in the BB with four limpers. The flop is: 5 K 9 rainbow. Do you check and hope to call one bet? What about two bets? Do you bet out against four player? Now what if you get no help on the turn? Turn comes 6 (5 K 9) no flush possible If you bet on the flop and got called by more than one player, do you still continue to bet out? Do you check/raise fold? | ||

| Check the flop, if there is an early position bet, followed by multiple callers, you can call one bet to see if you hit 2 pair or trips, then drop if not. If there's a button bet which you perceive to be a steal, then raise, if you think there is a valid bet on a K, then probably fold. This also depends on whether the pot was raised preflop and is laying you bigger odds to draw on. I think betting out into the field in this situation is the worst possible move you can make, you are left asking the exact question you just posed, what do I do now? You really have no idea what anyone might be holding. | ||

| I almost never bet out in this situation. Lets say there is no raising at all and its one bet after the flop, and one bet after the turn? Do you call it down to the river? | ||

| You are about a 9:1 underdog to improve on the next card. So if it wasn't raised pre-flop it is difficult to imagine that you will be able to collect sufficient bets those times that you improve to make it worthwile drawing (even if it was raised pre-flop I think it is pretty marginal). Note also that you are not drawing to anything close to the nuts. A9, JT, 87 are all the sort of hands that players limp with often and they may very well decide to "take one off" after seeing that flop. If you never continued with second pair and an overcard I don't think that you would be giving up much; and making a few mistakes with this type of holding could well cost you more than you make the times that you get it right. | For me it is an easy check fold in unless I'm heads up... | ||
