| something a group of guys are debating is, does a big stack gain playing equity, compared to a small stack, even though the small stack's chips are more "valuable"? the question was if you had a choice between a buy-in of $100 for 2000 chips or $25 for 500 chips which would you take and would your EV differ? my contention is that a big stack's all-in protection makes it more likely that you can survive mistakes while taking more chances and that gives you a better expected return than if you have a small stack. Ergo, you "gain" EV with a big stack choice that is greater than merely your chip ratio please let me know what you think LL | ||

| Assuming I can "outplay " my opponents....I'll take the big stack every time. I do not know how to effectively compute the EV spread, but the reasons you state are valid AND big stacks have an effect on your ability to push your opponents around. Roy Cooke on 21.
