Anyone use Directway for internet?, Andrew W, 21. Oct 2003 15:37

Where I live, dial up is the only land service available. No cable, no DSL. I am tempted to spring for Directway internet access, since I just got Directv. I pay over $30 a month now for a phone line and dial up, so I would slightly less than double my cost with a $60 a month Directway.

Anyone use it? Reliability OK? Speed? I can't believe the immense number of time outs I get on poker rooms when it's a busy time. Ive switched ISPs, gotten a new modem (USB this time) and nothing seems to keep me from disconnects.

Well Andrew I know a little bit about the Directway and also know a little bit about why your getting disconnects. The Directway internet is very very reliable and it has the equilivance of a dsl modem maybe a little slower. Also your disconnects are simple the server getting too crowded me knowing this because I work with servers everyday in college. A server is actually a group of computers connected together which makes it very easy for one computer to leave the server because of over crowdness your just simply the next one "in line" it really has nothing to do with your connection.
