| yesterday sat down at a 2/4 stud game, couldnt buy cards lost about $50, wasnt a great stud table seemed reasonably well played. got called to 3/6 holdem, when i signed up pots were about 5BB *i try for 6+* by the time i got called it was down to about 4 and like 20% calls preflop *really not good* again couldnt buy cards lost about $30, pretty disgusted at this point but i randomly decide to chk a 5/10 game *thanks to this board those saynig there are fish there* i see poker nirvana, pots 7BB+ and well over 50% preflop calls, i grab a seat and wait for button to pass me to post. post at the cutoff, player to my right also posts get 22 get to see the flop for no raises 5 players in the pot flop comes 6 2 8 with 2 diamonds BB bets out mp calls i figure i want to raise here and knock out the 2 remaining players if i can or else make anyone on a draw pay for it. dealer folds SB and BB call and MP folds *very interesting* 6 on the turn well now im happy with my hand hopefully diamond on the river to give someone second best. SB bets, BB raises and i reraise SB calls and BB caps it we both call, hmmmm A on the river SB chks BB bets we both call and i win BB showed K6 curious with the betting was there anything to be gained by raising on the river? at the time i was thinking more of saving a bet than gaining one and his capping on the turn gave me serious thoughts of his having a better boat. in one pot i made up all my losses and made a nice win and all because i took a shot at a table where the info i had said it was very nice. look to take shots with the full understanding that you could lose alot more than normal, but if you can afford to lose you could increase your bankroll a significant amount. | ||

(taking a shot part) as far as the river goes, i think its ok not to raise, but i would raise most of the time. sure u could be beat, but i dont like to think about it when im dealing with loose yahoos and ive got a house, even if its not the nuts... ----------------------------------------------------- "I prefer talking with old persons of the female sex who peddle family gossip; next, with the insane-and last, with very sensible people" -S.
