Folded rushes..., jackeboy, 21. Oct 2003 07:03 | ||

| In a $10 Sit'n'Go tournament last night. Two maniacs were trying to out-crazy each other preflop so I was staying well away. I was getting junk anyway and folding every hand. Something happened that I've seen a few times before - I folded 47s and realized I would have flopped a straight flush. Normally I have no regrets about throwing away junk if it would have hit but the next hand ( 92o ) would have made a full house. For the next three hands (all junk) I would have made the nuts or near-nuts and, from the couple of showdowns I saw, would have won each hand. They were all in middle to late position with raises of about 10BB's (about 20% of my stack) from the maniacs. I have heard that some believers in rushes will play the next hand after a big win, whatever their holdings. Any thoughts on whether to play ( 63o ) into a 10BB raise if you would have won the last five hands in a row? The flop for that was 245 rainbow by the way (and I folded) | ||

| Jacke, The cards don't remember who got dealt what, nor do they care. They don't care what your favorite hand is. They don't care that your aces got beat by a 27o last hand. They don't keep track of who's turn it is to flop top set, or who had the last nut flush. That type of thinking is a MAJOR leak, and one that can be easily fixed! When you see a flop that would have given you a premium hand, you should laugh and think to yourself that a weaker player might be inclined to start playing junk hands but YOU are too smart for that. Good luck! | ||

| Thanks guys - that's what I figured. I did fold them all by the way but I was getting twitchy after the first four : ). Like the sea - 'The cards have no memory' - I like that. 'evolution, not revolution - i want to evolve, not revolve' Jack | ||
