SitnGo success rate drop off, Bond18, 20. Oct 2003 18:49

As of monday i had worked my partypoker account up to 1141 dollars from 50 in about 6 weeks playing the sitngos. The past week i've been playing many many hours (more in one week than I ever have before) and its just all gone to hell. I am consistently getting knocked out 4th or 5th and getting drawn out, but i refuse to blame the cards, i beleive i am doing something wrong. I am playing tight pre flop early, making good raises when high cards hit if theres flush/straight shot, i stay in with about any pocket pair early in an unraised flop and then trap if i hit a set and theres no straight/flush risk and opening up my game some when it gets short handed. However i cannot determine whats wrong. Does anybody have any suggestions OR would one of the more experienced sitngo players be willing to watch me play 1 or 2 (and i'll tell them all my hands over AIM or something) and help me figure where im going wrong? My account has widdled away to 470 from 1140 and i dont' know whast wrong.

One thing for starters, what kind of SnG do you play, 10+1, 30+3, 50+5 or? Have you moved up the ladder as you think you have mastered a level?

you have said before you play the 30's or 50's.

I built my account up from 100 to around 4k since late june (exclusively 30's), and most of that win coming from june-the beginning of september, when I could play full time.

I can beat the game, yet I still went on a 15 game no cash streak a couple of weeks ago.

Fluctuations downward of 300 dollars at the $30 dollar level are common, and I've had two or three $500-600 dollar fluctuations. I like to keep a 700 bankroll for this level, and its usually enough to handle the fluctuations.

Bad luck just happens, possibly your play has changed, confidence can be a huge factor in no limit, but your luck will come back as evidenced as I'm on the biggest run I've had since I've started playing (over $1,000 in the past four days at $30)

I remember you posting you played at either 30 or 50 dollar level, and by my experience, if you're playing at the $50 dollar level this kind of fluctuation, although rare, can and will happen. Its frustrating, but as long as you're not playing the with rent, remain confident and if you can beat the game you will.

I'll be willing to watch you play whenever you'd be interested, ya can tell me your cards, I'll take notes and then let you know what I think afterwards. I'm assuming this would be ethical but if not I hope someone would let me know.

Palman, i woudl really appreciate that. I had been playing a mix of 10s, 30s, and 50s, with about 85% being 30s during this streak. Maybe it is just a bad run because i really dont' feel my playing style has changed much, if anything improved because i take notes during my play and look for holes. My email address is Tony17@charter.net palman, just email me when your available to do it, thanks a lot.

SnG's are a lot of short term luck, especially at Party, so it might just be that you are running bad. That said, if you want someone to watch you, I'd volunteer. I'll email you at the address posted below and we can work something out.
