| My answer to this is split into two parts, first of all i would say all decisions like this are answered by saying " it depends ". It depends on, amongst other things, in no real order of importance: - Tournament payout structure ( does first payout 100% ? does 10th pay the same as 5th ? ) - Size of your stack - Whether your opponent is really loose or just setting you up for something like this ( is he loose but only in small pots or has he been all in every hand ? ) - How good you are in relation to everyone else ( do you need to take risks ? ) - The size of the blinds / pot( has he bet 45k into a 1000 pot ? Are the blinds 10000/20000 do you have to take a stand here ? ) - Your position ( are you last to act is there someone else behind who is likely to call you ? Also the earlier the position the more likely he has a better hand and is not stealing ) Secondly without knowing the answers to these questions i would say i would rather peel off my skin and shower in vinegar than call an all in bet with AQ ! This is due to the fact that in No Limit AQ aint that great, ask yourself what hands are you hoping the other guy has gone all in with ? The only hand you can possibly be ahead is when he has AJ or AT and if someone is skilful enough to reach the final table they usually will not be going all in with AJ or AT, even if they are capable of doing this out of the range of hands they can have it is a lot more likely that they have a big pocket pair or AK. So what are you realistically looking at him having ? AA - You are in big trouble losing 90% of the time KK,QQ,AK- You lose about 70% of the time JJ-22 - Not great against JJ you lose 57% of the time against 22 is it about 52%. AQ really is not a good calling all in hand at a full table the only value it has is BETTING in all where you are bluffing but if you get called you hopefully have outs against a pocket pair. Bit of a ramble hope this helps though. Cheers, Chasepoker | ||
