| Hi. This is meant to be a quick puzzle for those that like that sort of thing. What is the lowest kicker that can play? What would the board look like for that kicker to play? BarryT | ||

Any four of a kind on board with a deuce while you have pocket deuces as well. | ||

| It would be a three...and the board would be AAA22 and you would hold A3. Roy Cooke on 18. Oct 2003 03:04 Barry T wrote: > Hi. | Hmm... In al of the examples so far, there is actually no kicker playing, as you have shown 5-card hands on the board... -Moz "There's too much caffeine in your bloodstream, and a lack of real spice in your life." | ||

| i agree- you don't need the kicker when you hold the only Ace. doesn't kicker imply that it makes the hand a winner, Roy? | ||

| Hi. Thanks for the replies. Let me try to clarify what I meant by my question: You have card-kicker1. Your opponent has same card-kicker2. At the showdown, you both turn your hands over and the dealer says: Kicker1 plays. What is the lowest kicker1 possible? That'll teach me to write a problem at bedtime. BarryT | ||

| It's the lowest card that is higher than both the opponent's kicker and the board. For example, lets say you have A7s and your opponent has A5s. The board comes: 6KAT3 (no flush). In this case, you kicker plays, and is the lowest that CAN play, giving you AAKT7. Your opponent's kicker (5)does not play, as it doesn't beat the board. He has: AAKT6. -Moz "There's too much caffeine in your bloodstream, and a lack of real spice in your life." | ||

| I would say it has to be a trey, in the case where it beats a duece on the board. In that case, your opponent would also have to have a trey, because if he has a duece it would pair to beat you and anything higher would be beat your trey. -Moz "There's too much caffeine in your bloodstream, and a lack of real spice in your life." | ||

| The lowest card that plays to win has to be a 4 for example on the board AAKK2 you hold 42 your opponent 32. It is not possible to be a 2 ( as 2's cant ever be kickers ! ) a 3 is also impossible as the only hand a 3 can outkick is a 22 and there is no board where a 3 beats a 2 and the 3 is a kicker. | No, that's just how I was figuring it in my example. The question was simply what is the lowest kicker that can play... -Moz "There's too much caffeine in your bloodstream, and a lack of real spice in your life." | ||
