Monday's NBC Las Vegas Episode, Andrew W, 15. Oct 2003 13:23

I thought the cheat school storyline was pretty good, especially with Elliot Gould of Oceans 11 (remake) as the professor.

However, though I have never been to Vegas, I have to ask, where in the hell did the writers get the idea that a $10 million Blackjack tournament was realistic. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's just a ridiculous number for an event like that. Hell, the WSOP this year had under $9 million, and that was a record year, with the gamblers putting up all the money. I've never been in a BJ tourney, but I can't imagine the casino can put up $10mill for something like that.

AND did you catch that the television broadcast was 'live?' And it looked like it wasn't a tourney but a one table game...that's Hollywood, I guess.

Is there such a thing as BJ tourneys? I don't play BJ, but I would think that would be a card counter's heaven and a casino's nightmare.....

There are BJ tourneys, but $10 mil is just a little bit high.

I don't watch this show, but I tend to skip TV shows/episodes about Vegas. They always seem to be written by some jackass who has been to Vegas for maybe a weekend or two and knows nothing about it. Kind of like on the episode of 90210 when they go to Vegas and David Silver becomes a gambling addict in the first 20 minutes there. Just an ounce of realism might be nice.
