| i was in Atlantic city and i decided to cash out ( i was down a few after a couple of hours) so i decided to watch a higher limit game . i think it was 30-60. I was about 2 tables away leaning on an empty table just watching ( could not see one card, just wanted to watch and see what it was about) and one of the floor managers comes up to me after about 20 mins and says . THE GENTLEMENOVER THERE WOULD LIKE YOU NOT TO WATCH .. Is this rude on my part or just snotty on the player, you can watch right??? . I was no were near there playing table in fact i was about 20 or 30 feet away. I was a little pissed . what you guys think | ||

| You have the right to watch from a respectable distance but they have the right to ask you not to. The floor manager was just trying to satisfy his paying customer. You could argue with him all you want, but I can understand both sides here. Eli on 15. | That happened to me in Vegas at the Mirage once. The game was $400/$800 and I was standing behind a guy and watching over his shoulder (this is when i was more of a novice). He proceeded to take two bad beats in a row to the tune of $12k lost and he turned around and asked me to leave. Like I was the reason for him losing... Anyway, some people are snobs and will be no matter what. I actually laughed at the guy as I walekd away... | ||

| one small issue they might have is, why should we be giving you free information on how we play? if you feel comfortable enough ask if they told why they were requesting you not to *not a player the floorperson* could be something that can be fixed | ||

| Alot of people are superstitious, i guess it's a feeling of someone watching your every move. But I gather 20 to 30 feet away is a long way so i dont think it was right. Maybe u should ask how far is enough to watch? Parking lot? | ||

| DEAR MRTEL, THE PLAYER IS NOT RUDE. HE HAS THE RIGHT TO ASK THEMGT TO ASK YOU NOT TO WATCH. AT THE MIRAGE THE BIG GAMES HAVE A BIG RAILING AND YOU CAN'T HANG ON IT TO WATCH THEM. LJH | ||

| I think it's completely stupid. Where I play, the highest limit game is way off in the corner far away from any comfortable place to watch and it's because some of the high limit players are very picky about being watched. Personally, I wish they'd move it right up to the railing where a crowd could gather and watch. My thinking is that people who are bad poker players are intimidated by the higher limit tables. I think if they could see us play, then they'd probably think to themselves "I can play with them" because Hold'em looks deceptively easy when you are not in the heat of battle. Anyway, I think it's good for the game to get the new blood in. As long as you are not hovering right over someone, I think it should be fine. I've had people give me dirty looks for watching a game, when I'm on the freakin waiting list to get into the game. I have every right to see the table I'm going to be investing my money into! Anyway, sorry to rant, but this is something I think is really stupid and annoying. | ||

| Screw all those high limit players...If they are in the public part of a card room let everyone watch them. Every other competitive endeavor that I know of DEPENDS on fans coming to observe the event being played. If they want to make all this big money then they need to learn how to tune out the crowd and focus on their game...Poker is now a spectator sport what with the sudden television interest in the game. Every baseball pitcher, quarterback, tennis pro, ice skater, skier, basketball player, golfer...etc, etc,etc has to put up with fans watching them in action. The game has changed and if they can't handle it let them give up their seat and let someone else play. | ||

| but poker isnt those games so you cant compare them. These players NEVER depend on the "fans" to make their money so your arguement is null. As someone said earlier....you have the right to stand there, but a paying player has the right to ask you not to. If you wanted to be a jerk, you should have sat down and played one hand against him, won, then got up and walked out. | ||
