| I played at the Trop in AC this past weekend. After about 7 hours of play I managed to leave up $30. Woooopy!!!. It was definetly a great experience and I'll be back. I was a little intimidated at first, but then I realized that I was probably one of the better players at my table!!!. Most of my experience has been online and home friendly games. I sat down at a 3/6 game. I brought $500 with me. At first I played extremely tight because I was just getting a feel for the game. I only played top hands from early position and didnt really try any tactics from late position. After the first two hours, I was down $150. I lost a huge pot when my Kings full of 5's got busted by four 5's. OUCH!!. Then another hand - two pair A's & Q's, I lost to a guy calling to the river for a gutshot straight. I was down close to $300, but things turned around. I still played aggressive, but not extremely tight as I did earlier. I took atvantage of late position, because the level of play was not that great. I picked up pocket nines in early position, raised, and got 4 callers. Flop was 8,2,4 (two spades), I checked, checked around to the button who bet. I raised, all called the two bet. Turn was 5 and river was a 2. I bet and called on both and won the pot!!! I eventually got to even, and won the next small pot, and thats when my wife came by and it was time to Go. I ended my session feeling very comfortable playing 3/6. The competition isnt all that great. This is coming from a guy whos been playing mostly online the past 5 months, but been playing home games since college. (bout 10 years) I never read a book, but rely heavily on UPF for advise and strategy. Thanks guys | ||
