| long post... sorry. Friday night. UB's 10PM Limit tourney. At the first break I have yet to see a hand. Down to 600 chips. Hoping I'll get some cards after the break and make a move. It doesn't happen. I'm down to 300 a half hour later. I'm convinced it will be a short night. Then I get a hand. KK in the BB. One EP limper and a Late position raiser. I reraise. Both call. Flop is all under cards. I bet. EP calls. LP raises putting me all in. I call. EP calls. My kings hold up and I triple up. Next hand. AA in the SB. I raise again. I get reraised by a MP player. I don't think he's got Aces. Probably AK. I'm the only caller. Flop comes with a King and two spades. I bet, he raises immediately. Now I'm pretty sure he's got AK, I reraise and he caps. Next card is another spade. Same betting which puts me all in again. Starting to wonder if he had a set of Kings. Or a set of something else. River is the King of spades, giving me the flush. Fortunately for me, he did have AK and I take down the pot. I double up. Next hand, QQ on the button. I raise again. No one can believe it. Flop gives me a Q and another big win. I now go on cruise control. It is now bubble time and I'm just hanging on. I have maybe two laps around the table before I'm gone. I win one small pot to keep me alive and I make the money. Of the 40 players left, i'm ranked 37th. Oh well. At least I made my buy in back. I remain a short stack until the final table (huh? final table?). At the final table I'm 2nd short stack. Have enough for 2 rounds and I'm toast. A player I was sitting with for most of the tourney comes on and comments on how shocked he is that I've hung in so long with a short stack. He then predicts my imminent victory as I must be the Comeback King. He even starts making propositions with people that I will win the tourney even though I'm down by about 60000 chips. Needless to say, I came back and won. I got to heads up short stacked by about 4-1 and I trampled the guy. A wish I had bet on me. Anyway... sorry for the long post. I'm still glowing! And thanks to all those people who said avoid suited connectors. That was a great piece of advice when I was trying to find a hand that I could go all in with. The other great advice was from one of the pros who said it's better to go in with Kx or Qx rather than suited cards. That helped me stay patient. Woohoo! beigs | ||

| Congrats, but one question "it's better to go in with Kx or Qx rather than suited cards" so, you'd fold Kxs/Qxs rather than play them? | ||

| It was the criteria for which hand I would allow myself to go all-in on when the blinds would be about to eat me up. I avoided middle-suited connectors under the assumption that court cards with a weak kicker would give me a better percentage. beigs PS There was a post by Barry T or Mark Gregorich stating this. I can't remember where, though. on 14.
