You are in MP and everyone folds in front of you. Was there a bet or did everyone just fold instead of check? If this is what you mean, what is the rest of the question? Are you asking what hands you can bet? > also. > > how would you know someone has the 2nd best pair next to yours so slow play > them...check raise ,,sandbag,,whatever you wana call it You have to get to know the player's tendencies and the hands he would play. Generally, you shouldn't be slowplaying a top pair top kicker hand. It is vulnerable to draws and should be bet strongly (generally) Mark | ||

| how many people act after you? Was it raised pre-flop? This is still too general. What to do depends on many things. Mark | ||

| I think what you are asking is, if you are refering back to a book or strategy that is based on positions, do you shift to become early position post flop? Pre flop, you are still MP, and would act accordingly. The reason why MP (and LP of course) can play "looser" hands is because you see what happens with those first 4 guys...If one of them raises, well that should signal strength. Why? Well the thinking normally is that you have far too many unknowns behind you that may raise, so you don't want to come in with a small pair in EP because you may have to lay it down if there is KK and AA behind you who cap out the pot. After the flop, things have been dictated by what happened before hand. The big raiser preflop is usualy "in the lead" post flop. If someone didn't hit their hand, it is often times checked to the raiser. I don't want to say position isn't as important, but it isn't the same as preflop...there aren't hard and fast rules you can follow (not that anyone ever should in any position) on how to play. Late position always gives you the advantage of having the most information, and that applies at any stage of the hand. I don't think this answered the question the way you wanted, but I hope it helps some. on 15. | When I am the first to enter the pot in that situation I like to go in raising with hand such as KQ, AJ or perhaps lower. My thinking is I can win the pot right there or I may eliminate most drawing hands. | ||
