| Anyone know the odds of winning a hand with pocket pairs with 10 players? Ken Warren has a table on this but does not give information for pocket pairs. Thanks Ron | ||

| Just out of curiosity, how does a statistic such as this help? I would think it depends on the limit, what type of table it is, how you play it etc etc... I know you will hit a set about 1 in 7 and 1/2 times. At which point you should evaluate the situation and figure out how to get as much money in the pot if you think you're a winner... | ||

| How would it help? The only measurement I have seen for gauging how well someone is playing is winnings. Usually expressed in BB per hour or whatever. If the winnings are good, the cards are good and the player is playing well. If the winnings are bad, the luck must be bad. How much of the losses are poor cards and how much of the losses are poor play or a combination. As a new player, I find the single parameter evaluation system to be very inadequate for me to evaluate my game. Even SD uses the same parameter. What if you could tell if the cards are bad and your play is good? You will need more parameters for evaluation. I have logged around 1000 hands of micro low limit. I have logged every starting hand and the result. My winning percentage is very close to the table I referenced. In micro low limit, the best hand usually wins. I hope to progress to higher levels where ability can change the porbability of winning. If I move up and my winning percentages drop, I will have some gauge of performance to tell where I need work.
