Up definately. My big screen Hi def and Laptop this year can attest to that. I pay the bills with my 9 to 5 job, and buy my toys with my poker winnings.

Up... I was lucky enough to go a short time before realizing there is more to the game than getting lucky.

I'm up. But I was lucky enough to have found UPF very soon after starting to play and was able to turn my game around before my losses got bad.

Only been playing since June, down real money by a small amount, I attribute it to the school of hard knocks. Not gambling real money right now, but up on the play money by a whole lot, not that it really matters. When I have a little extra to invest in the game... will go back to the real money and take a swing at it. Either way I'm a stronger more challenging opponent daily... So up on knowledge down on dollars, it will even out.

I'm up thanks to this forum, lee jones, and learning how to be patient. I started playing in June and by August was down 400 dollars. Now I'm up 1200 and I feel like I've settled into the game. Thanks guys!

Up. Both online and live, with increasing confidence in my abilities to win consistently.

The increased confidence is a combination of, I believe, (1) studying the game more and more and more, and (2) this forum providing positive reinforcement of the decisions and thought processes I am applying while playing.

I love this game.

lifetime probably down, been playing off and on for 15 years or so but i have always had outside time constraints and have rarely had a session bankroll large enough and time enough to sit at a game for any real length of time (30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hour tops is hard to do)

Up, but just because I found UPF and started reading books.

Started playing in June, winning month (just lucky....)
July I lost most of my buy-in at Party playing $0.5/1 ring games (was down to 2 buy-in at the 5+1 SnG!!), but found UPF and got some books (and took some time off to digest the information).
Started playing SnGs at Party and increased my leftover $12 to well beyond by buy-in.
Found a small site with $10 sign-up bonus and freerolls at took that bankroll even further (never put any money into this site).

So, thank you all!!

3 categories:

Home games: Never won but never invest much, not mean enough to take advantage of people I'm friends with.

Live: Not sure, either slightly up or down. Had a great consistent streak going followed by just as consistant a loosing streak before I stopped for a couple of years.

Online: Documented about $100 up but I went on tilt yesterday horribly, going from finishing in the money in at least half the SNG's I entered to blowing out early 5 games in a row. Overall, I'm way up in SNG's but just as down in cash. Have abandoned cash games online within the last week and look to make a modest living with SNG's since I'm unemployed and have dedicated myself to studying and perfecting my game full time.

Down a little
...but I just started and consider it an initial investment. I am working on it though. Dicipline dicipline and more dicipline.
I still have to learn to play based on odds.
I am getting good at reading hands though.
Have faith in myself and my ability to KNOW WHEN I AM BEAT. Though when I have a good hand, I will pay to see it.

SNGs might save my butt here because I am very UP with them.

just a little advice on the subject of knowing when your beat. when i started playing i would laydown hands where i knew i was beat even though i had the correct odds to call. this is a major source of problems for new players i think. ive since learned a bit about pot odds and now make calls based more on math than reading my opponant. if i am wrong about my read and lose a 300 dollar pot then it will take a hell of a long time to make that up. keep that in mind when "you know you are beat"

I am up. I'm still not an everyday player but I play in home games all the time and do play a little b&m. If I stayed out of the b&m I would be up a lot more but that is where I'm getting my practice. Every time I go looking to learn a little more. I've kept track of all my gambling over the last 2 years and am up.

Up

When i started out, i "invested" about $1500 into low limit B&M play before i started to have break-even sessions.

Then when i started online play, i was up from my first buy-in. While i don't play very much right now (maybe a 5 hours a week), my $ per hour online has been fantasic during the last few months and my latest online check is paying for my trip to vegas.

I can definately attribute my winnings to reading and rereading poker literature (books, cardplayer, and upf)

Up at the B&M (actually 6 for my last 6 sessions)

Back and forth, but probably down on-line. Not as much discipline, and deciding on a session length is brutal.

Up overall. Up a lot in B&M play, but about flat to slightly down online. Haven't yet gotten used to the big quick swings yet, but am getting there.

Up, overall, although my bankroll took quite a beating getting used to online play. I didn't realize that the games are tougher at the same limits. 15/30 in a CA B&M is waaaay looser than the same level on UB. Since I was used to playing in these loose games, I was conditioned to overvalue certain types of hands, suited A's for instance, which got me into trouble in tough online games. For a long time, I was way up at B&M & live tourneys, but I was getting pretty dismal results online. I also had trouble adjusting to the much faster pace, and also not being able to see your opponents. Now that I've played a lot online, I'm getting good results there too and am nearly out of the hole I dug myself into. Luckily, I was doing really well at B&M during the entire "getting used to online" fiasco, so it didn't really hurt too much.

I'm up. I average 32.5 hours a week playing with a 3.2 BB's and hour win rate - can't pay the mortgage yet but with the same success (hopefully) at the bigger limits - maybe just maybe.
