Should I have played back?, Ian J, 11. Oct 2003 13:39 | ||

| Hello all, This is my first time on here. First I would like to say that I love the posting on here. It's always so constructive and I can appreciate that. So now it's my turn to get some advice: Today on UB, I played in a NL SnG and made it to the top three with about T1800. The person to my left had about 5000, leaving the player to my right with about 3200. The first three times I was the big blind, the player to the right who was in the small blind went all in and forced me to a decision. He seemed somewhat intelligent, so I think he may have picked up on my tight style and used it to his advantage. Finally, I get pocket deuces in the big blind. Same thing, he goes all in. Was I right to call based on the fact that he was just hammering me over and over? By the way, he actually had AQ and caught his A and I was done. Sorry about the long post, thanks for any help. | Sorry, I forgot to mention that the blinds were at 100-200 and were going up shortly, so I was somewhat concerned at that point. | ||

| It's almost never correct to call an all in with 22, because every hand is either a coinflip (overcards) or has you completely dominated (a higher pair). You're taking much the worst of it on this bet and I'd wait for a better spot, even if you are getting desperate. Lee | ||

| i agree with Lee, but ill repeat. ..i woulda picked a better spot. also, he went allin and you called him. i dont like calling with 2-2. in fact i would be concerned about calling anything but premium hands with that guy. i would rather wait for some good cards and re raise a guy like that allin. u be the aggresser....shift gears on 11. | I think in your case, since the SB was attacking you so hard, you were right to call. You have a slight advantage over AQ and at some point you had to take a stand. You other option would be to attack him when he was in the BB and you were UTG. You go all in, especially if you have Ax, and steal his blind. Then when he steals your blind it evens out. Or some times this aggression will stop his stealing. Just my 2 cents. | ||
