| All the pros I 've talked with here and books I've read say get out of the min. wage games asap. I definitely agree, but how much do I need /should start with as I move limits? I've heard everything from 35xBB to 100XBB for online. It seems less for B&M games? $200 seems a lot for 2/4 game? Am I wrong? Thank you. | ||

| The size of your bankroll before you move up depends on a few things. Are you planning on making your living through poker? If not, is that discretionary money replenishable easily through a job? Personally, I'm not a big fan of moving up limits until your play has increased your bankroll to a point in which you have sufficient money to play at those higher limits. So - is this strictly recreation? | ||

| 200 dollars? what?!? thats not even close for a bank at 2-4. i play higher, but that is about what u would bring for 1 session! try at least a grand or two? thats what i would want for 2-4.... banks are for longterm, not a few weeks. you could easy lose 200 in a week, so its not really a bank if it wont last long if u hit a badrun, is it? gl! on 11. | Yes you are DEAD wrong, and so are the people advising you. Sure, you want to move up from the tiny games, but ONLY if you, and your bankroll are READY. I try to warn people time and time again, that playing above their bankroll, is almost certain DEATH. Has ruined to hopes of so many. Now, I can't give you a complete answer, without knowing more facts. Are you trying to make a full time living? How easily can you replace your bankroll. Are you just doing this for a part time income? If you can replace a bankroll, and are NOT trying to make a full time living, then you need exactly twenty dollars to play two four. But, why bother with that. Recently, Adam the Expert won a fifty five buy in multi table no limit tournament, for a whopping 6750. all on a fifty dollar buy in. Of course, Adam the Expert is many thousands of times better than almost anyone, but any reasonable player, can get lucky and win one of these. If you are trying to make a full time living, and cannot readily replace your bankroll. then you need at least THREE HUNDRED BIG BETS, to insure long term survival. This is in a two four game, where the players are not as tough. In larger games, Try FIVE HUNDRED BIG BETS. And, you should have your rent and other major monthly bills, paid for three to six months in advance. If you'd like to email Adam the Expert with more specific information about your goals in poker, you may. I will try to give you as much information about the realities of making it is this business, as I can. adamofalaska@hotmail.com | ||
