| I am playing online for over 9months and i can't seem to take a day off. i know u are supposed to take some time off but i can't seem to not get into a game. Now do u guys take some time off regardless? i know my game is faltering, and then i get into the get even mentality. How does one over come the urges. I know what u are thinking "get a life" right? tks lol | ||

| It sounds like you need some time off. Don't get into the get even mentality, it will end up hurting you more than anything. I think this is the hardest thing about playing poker. Take a break, try to forget about the money that you have lost. In a couple of weeks try again and consider it as starting fresh, you aren't down you aren't up-you are even. With some time off maybe try to improve your game, read a book, or try some simulations. The hardest part of poker in my oppinion is the losses and fluctiation of ups and downs. Just remember always try to improve your game, and don't take get to excited with your wins or to down on your losses. | ||

| hey tron, i played online for about the same time and took a break 4 months ago and havnt played online since. i'll go back sometime, but right now i just play in cardrooms. with cardrooms, you can obviously get away from it and not bring it home with you. i think by sticking to live games , i just enjoy poker more, including the social aspects of the game, which is better for my game longterm. online i feel like some weirdo clicking and staring at a screen for endless hours, and im a young player(31) if you dont have local cardrooms, thats a bummer. but if you do, play less online and play more live. , 24on 9. | also...online poker can be like crack!! just step back for awhile and see if you can get along without it. if you can't control yourself, you should try and be more disiplined, play less hours, don't let it control your life. disipline a very important skill longterm... on 9. | I have been drinking for nine months and can't seem to go a day without a drink. Does anyone think I just need to "go camping" Just a thought. Additionally what exactly is the purpose of your post. You state that you are burnt out, that you need to stop and that you can't stop. If you have recognized that you have a problem than there is without a doubt a gambling hot line in your area. | ||
